They'd agreed to let Adam get a little stressed with a bed bound Alanna before springing flying on him...
They'd probably agreed on a week...
But Rachel was never good with time, so the "week" part was a bit iffy by the time there was a cheerful tap at the window. What flying adventure. probably unapproved by Adam, shouldn't start by unconventional entrances?
There's a brief moment of panic, a moment of being thoroughly divorced from everything she knows, but the moment passes, leaving behind an incredible sense of freedom. For the first time in far too long, Alanna feels the wind in her hair and on her face, dancing around like it's trying to tug her closer and then push her away.
It was Freedom, the ability to leave weightier worries gravity bound for a time. No matter that the sky was slate grey and threatened to rain, the air about them was warm and gentle, phantom flames playing through the currents as Rachel grinned.
"When they're born, we can maybe take your littles flying too...get you all up here to chase each other for an afternoon..."
She had expected motion sickness, had even put ginger root in her pocket before slipping out the window. There's no nausea, however, and she laughs with delight.
"One of a few" she agreed lightly "If you were only expecting the one I'd say take them flying as soon as they could sit in a carry pouch...with three though we should wait until they can walk I think." so they'd understand the ground first.
"Well, that's the easy part actually...I'm a telekinetic, I can lift things with my mind, easy as that. Not quite magic, but close enough." she chuckled, settling at Alanna's side to "walk" next to her.
"The hard answers are "How to airplanes fly?" or even better "How to bumblebees fly?" I've yet to truly figure those out."
"That's kinda what I decided, so I stopped trying to figure them out..." that and the airlines were starting to get really spooked.
Then she smiled, a soft, serene smile "Yes, here. It's one reason I think I love it here, that peace. Some places not even flying can get you away from it all..."
[*pokes email* I didn't get a notification....apologies!]
"Foolproof is boring anyway" she admitted.
Rachel tightened her grip on Alana's hand and looked down as well "I'd...miss the water. And the earth. UP here is calm, peaceful...but there's so little life, it's not a conducive element really. You'd start to lose yourself..."
"You can't lose yourself," Alanna insists, something of a warning in her voice. "I think I would miss the earth under my feet most of all. The solidity of it."

...then to the sky, hands stretched between them as Rachel watched for any sign of hesitation, of fear...
She'd not let go until Alanna chose.

She loves it.
"Oh, Rachel," she breathes, spellbound.

"That sounds like a good way to wear them out."

And they'd definitely have to tell Adam then...

"I probably don't want to ask how this works, do I?"

While in London, she avoids looking at airplanes whenever possible.
"It's beautiful up here. Quiet."

Grinning, Alanna grabs Rachel's hand tightly and turns in a circle, looking down at the lake with her heart in her throat.
"Do you ever feel like you could just stay aloft forever?"

"Yes...freedom doesn't mean much, flight, when you never have a place to stand. It's nice upon occasion though. And for tag."

Alanna grins and floats until she can look Rachel in the eyes.
"Thank you, Rachel."

"Never a problem, Alanna." Never.
