[A clipped, English voice echoes from the communicator.]

Hm? What a curious contraption. I would like to see how it works, but ah...

Oh, excuse me. It seems to be recording, isn't it? My name is Hershel Layton, though those that know me refer to me as Professor Layton.

I'm not from London, but I attend university there. Still, I imagine it's rather a different London than the one you're from. A different year, at the very least.

A different year, as well? Considering past events, it's not entirely impossible. [But...]

Do you mind if I ask you what year it was before you came here, Mr...? Ah, excuse me, it seems I haven't got your name.

I'm Sebastian Flyte. And before I ended up in this dreadful place, it was 1923.

Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Flyte. If only it were in more desirable circumstances,

1923, you say? That isn't too far from my own time, 1932. To think, whoever captured us here as the ability to not only pull us away, but stabilize all the differing time and our presence here. It is...worrisome, for lack of a better word.

I do not think I have met anyone with those names, Mr. Layton. I'm Yukina, by the way. I am a healer here.

[Layton gives a visible sigh of relief.] Oh, I see. I'm thankful for that. I wouldn't want them in such a dangerous environment.

Pleasure to meet you, Miss Yukina. [A tip of the hat in greeting.] May I ask of what healing arts you are versed in?

Oh! I am a demon, so I am able to use my energy to heal others.

[Layton tries to not look surprised, as it isn't very gentlemanly to express shock at a lady.] A demon, you say? That's very intriguing. I hope you don't if I pester you with a few questions. It's a habit of a professor, I'm afraid.

How do you use your energy to heal? Through touch or some other form of energy transfer?

There's no Flora or Luke here that I know of, but I'm Suki. I've been here for a year, so if you have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them.

Thank you for notifying me. I wouldn't want them to be here where there is so many dangerous circumstances afoot. It's very nice to meet you, Miss Suki. I do have quite a few questions. I'll try not too keep you too long, though.

I should start with the one that's been bothering me most. Just who spirited us away to this place?

Here. This should help you out some.

Thank you. Let me just take a quick look at it. [Layton opens the text before him. He hold his chin in thought as he looks through the information, bemused.]

That certainly does answer my question, along with many others I had. It's all so very curious, for lack of a better word. Now, I hope you don't mind me asking something a bit more personal; have you been residing here long, Miss Suki?

There is a file about this place. Has anyone sent it to you?

On basic terms, we are all being confined here.

Yes, I received it already. It's been very [a pause] informative.

It seems so. I suppose now we just make the best of what we can from these circumstances.

Its detailed, but it most certainly works.

That's the case. Do you need anything, any other questions that haven't been covered yet?

The more detailed, the better for me. Little details often hide important clues in them, especially when it comes to unraveling a mystery like this.

Not at this moment. Your name, though, would be lovely should I ever need to contact you.

Alex Forbes. It could be nice to meet you, but its not, considering where we are. [A small pause and a sigh on the other side.]

Make more friends than enemies in this place, I'll advise.

Pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Forbes. Yes, they certainly did not intend this facility to be a warm place, but that just makes the need to work together to overcome such obstacles more important.

I hope to do so. So far, the people I've talked to have been quite understanding.

It does - not everyone is willing to work together however, whether that is due to personality or sheer stubbornness. This place forces a change, or keeps one rather lonely, from what I've seen.

Hopefully it stays that way; we've had an odd couple of events in the past month.

That is a shame, but I am glad that there are still some that have made the most of the situation. That is what a gentleman does in times like these, after all.

As do I. Ah, do you mind if I inquire as to what has happened recently? It might not reflect what is to come, but it is better than not being prepared at all.
