Title: Kawaii
Chapter: 8/?
Fandom: Super Junior,
Hongo KanataPairing: HeeChul/Kanata
Rating: PG13
Summary: HeeChul has a cute new costar (I think we've established that I suck at summaries, yes?)
WARNINGS: maybe a couple swears? *shrug*
Notes: I'm massively late, I know. sorry! I got writer's block like whoa...
About the nickname thing... for anyone who doesn't know, "kirei" means "pretty". I personally think EeTeuk hyung is very pretty, so that's the nickname Kanata gave him ^^; *lame* (it was either that or "Dimple Man" XD because that was srsly what I called EeTeuk for like two months before I finally learned his name)
"Alright, guys. This scene is really emotional! Hiroki's confessing his undying love to JaeMin."
Kanata and HeeChul glanced at each other nervously, both thinking exactly the same thing: I'm in HELL.
"I know it's hard, but you really gotta put yourself in the characters' shoes." The director turned to Kanata, still waving his copy of the script around as he spoke. "Kanata, this is the ultimate test of your acting ability! You need to be convincing! The audience has to believe that you're in love with HeeChul!"
Kanata paled, wide eyes flicking briefly to HeeChul, then quickly away again. After a moment of awkward silence, he realized the director was waiting for a response from him, and he nodded slowly. "I...I think I can do that." This SUCKS.
"Yokatta!" The usually intimidating man smiled, patting the boy's shoulder. Then, Kanata was momentarily dismissed as he turned to HeeChul. "Alright, crackhead. You did okay with the dramatic scenes in Golden Bride, though half the time you still acted like a spoiled brat-"
"I was playing a spoiled brat..." HeeChul grumbled under is breath, causing Kanata to slap both hands over his own mouth to muffle his giggles.
"-For this, I really need you to concentrate. Your best friend, who you've secretly had a crush on since the day you met, is in love with you! Don't start cracking jokes or acting like a retard!"
The young star pouted, staring at the ground. "I don't always do that..."
Kanata patted his shoulder in mock sympathy, smirking. "Sure you don't, crackhead."
"Jerk!"
"Alien!"
"Midget!"
The Japanese boy scowled, crossing his arms over his chest. "For Christ's sake, I'm not THAT much shorter than you!"
"Shut up, both of you!" Both boys immediately closed their mouths and turned back to the irritated director. "Alright, frankly, I have almost no faith in either of you, so I want you to practice. Right here, right now. No sense in wasting film on you two if you can't get the scene right!"
The two costars glanced at each other again, both wondering if they could do this without the truth being revealed.
"NOW, damn it!"
They both jumped and moved away from each other, quickly going over the script one more time.
Kanata raised an eyebrow as he read the dialogue. What the hell is this? If I'm gonna sacrifice my pride for some stupid show in a foreign country, it's sure as hell not gonna be this cheesy!
Shoving the script in his back pocket, he took a moment to collect his thoughts, took a deep breath, and when the director screamed "ACTION!", he was ready to go. Or rather, about as ready as he'd ever be.
Swallowing, he approached HeeChul, silently cursing whoever wrote this insane drama. "JaeMin... can I talk to you for a second?" He made sure to use the character's name in order to separate himself from the scene a bit; the script had actually said 'hyung', but he was afraid he'd get buried in the part if he said that.
HeeChul flashed him a soft, innocent smile and nodded. "Sure. What's up?"
"I..." he faltered, gaze immediately dropping to the ground. "I..."
"You...?" HeeChul's smile widened and, mentally patting himself on the back for not running off in absolute terror and locking himself in the dressing room, he reached out and gently lifted Kanata's head with a hand under his chin. "Look at me, Hiroki."
Kanata swallowed again, reluctantly meeting HeeChul's eyes. Now or never... At least it's not real. "I love you!"
Just as the script instructed, HeeChul dropped his hand with a startled gasp. "...What?"
The younger boy squeezed his eyes shut, his entire body trembling in fear; though he knew this was just a practice run for the drama, he couldn't help fearing HeeChul's rejection. It all felt so real!
"I love you, hyung."
In seconds, he was in HeeChul's arms, fear being replaced by warmth; whenever HeeChul hugged him, he always felt so safe and loved...
"Thank god..." When Kanata glanced at him in confusion, HeeChul smiled, giving him a quick, chaste kiss. "I love you, too, K...Hiroki." He just barely stopped himself from saying the boy's real name and, to cover his mistake, he leaned down and whispered in his ear, "Always have."
"ALRIGHT!" The director came running over, and the two boys immediately jumped away from each other. "I gotta say, I'm definitely impressed! I really didn't think you could do it!" He grinned, patting them both on the head like they were children. "I've never been so glad to be proven wrong in my life!"
The young actors barely had time to crack a smile before he turned away and shouted, "Alright, get your butts on the set! Let's shoot this scene before you lose that empathy!"
'Empathy' my ass... Neither aware that the other was thinking the same thing, they both reluctantly followed him over to where the cameras were set up. At least we can get this overwith.
"That SUCKED!"
HanKyung glanced up from the book he'd been reading, raising an eyebrow as a certain sulking Japanese teenager stomped in the door.
"What sucked?"
Kanata glanced sharply at EeTeuk, surprised. He hadn't realized anyone else was there. "...Nothing. Hi."
HanKyung laughed, patting his lap in a silent invitation, which Kanata wasted no time in accepting. "If it's boy troubles, don't worry about it. Teukie's as gay as they get."
"Hey!" EeTeuk frowned, setting a tray full of snacks on the coffee table before sitting on the floor across from them. "You make it sound like I'm some sort of flaming fairy!"
"You are!"
The older boy jumped to his feet and spun around, just barely stopping himself from grinning. "Do you see fire OR wings? I'm NOT a flaming fairy!"
Kanata smirked. "Change out of the dragon shirt and maybe you'll be a little more convincing, Kirei."
EeTeuk laughed, sitting back down. "I know, that was kind of the point. So what sucked?"
"You mean besides JaeJoong?" HanKyung cut in, grinning knowingly at his suddenly blushing hyung.
"Can we please go FIVE minutes without talking about my sex life?"
"Funny, I was wondering the same thing about two minutes ago." The dancer rolled his eyes. "Around when you were telling me about that!"
EeTeuk grinned. "Yes, well, that was before a wonderful source of new gossip fell into your lap."
Kanata blushed, pressing his face against HanKyung's chest. "Is everyone in Super Junior like this?"
"Honey, are you kidding me?" EeTeuk laughed, snatching a cookie off the tray he'd brought in. "Everyone under SM is like this!"
HanKyung smiled, running his fingers through Kanata's hair. "You'll get used to it. Now, what's wrong, kiddo?"
He took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and explained everything in a rush. "That stupid drama is ruining EVERYTHING! I mean, it's already been hinted since like episode three or whatever that our characters were in love with each other, and it bothered me back THEN, never mind NOW, after I've ACTUALLY fallen for him! And then today the director made me confess!"
"He made you what?!" HanKyung stared at him, feeling as though his heart had just stopped. "...And...what did HeeChul hyung say?"
Kanata shrugged. "He said he loved me back, but it was just for that STUPID drama! It wasn't REAL! And now I definitely CAN'T confess for real because he'll probably just think I'm PRACTICING or something and-"
"Kanata, breathe," EeTeuk commanded softly, when it became obvious that the boy wasn't going to remember to do so on his own.
Laughing a little, Kanata calmed down. "Sorry. I'm just kinda frustrated..."
EeTeuk shrugged. "Perfectly understandable. I just figured HanKyung didn't want a cute boy dying on his lap."
The Chinese boy in question laughed at that, nodding. "Much appreciated."
Suddenly, the tinny sound of someone's ringtone echoed through the room and Super Junior's leader jumped, pulling his cell phone out of his pocket. "...Huh. Speak of the devil."
He flipped the little device open, grinning at the other two as he answered. "Hey, HeeChul. What's up?" eyes widening, he stood. "Slow down, honey. What? Yeah, I heard..."
HanKyung and Kanata both shot him questioning looks, but he waved them off, heading for the door. "Calm down, Rella. I'll be there soon, okay? About five seconds, goofball. I'm at Hannie's. What? Why not?" He winced, pulling the phone away from his ear as HeeChul started yelling. "Alright, alright! I won't say a word!"
Waving absently to his friends, he walked out the door, still trying to calm the hysterical princess.
Kanata glanced at HanKyung, who was obviously just as confused as he was. "What... just happened?"
