Notes: Ack! Sorry I keep taking so long between updates lately! And this one is so short T-T *fails*
Anyway, at least now you finally get to see what HeeChul was so upset about. XD
When EeTeuk got to HeeChul's apartment, he wasn't the least bit surprised to see the princess curled up on his couch, clinging to a pillow for dear life, and crying his eyes out. With a soft sigh, he sat down next to the younger man and tugged him into his lap. "Alright. What's going on?"
HeeChul sniffled, not looking away from the TV screen. "They finally revealed what the other three brothers have been trying to hide from Hinata, and Hinata's crushed."
"...Who the hell is Hinata?"
Making a big show of sighing in exaggerated annoyance and pausing the DVD, HeeChul snapped, "Kanata's character, the youngest brother. When you said you heard, I figured you knew what was going on."
"I heard you've been watching this when Kanata's not around, that's about it."
HeeChul raised an eyebrow, twisting around until he could look at EeTeuk. "How did you hear that?"
EeTeuk grinned. "HanKyung. He said he'd dropped by to hang out with you, but you completely ignored him."
"Oh my god!" He blushed slightly, looking away with an embarrassed giggle. "I didn't even notice he was here!"
"This show's that fascinating, huh?" EeTeuk eyed the frozen images on the screen, heart breaking a little to see Kanata obviously trying to smile and be strong, even as he had tears streaming down his cheeks.
HeeChul nodded, reaching for the remote. "Want me to start it over, since you haven't seen it?"
"Nah, I'm sure I'll get the basic idea."
"Okay." With a little shrug, he hit play, and almost immediately dissolved into fresh tears.
Less than five minutes later, EeTeuk was clinging to HeeChul for dear life, crying silently. Poor Hinata...
"Kanata..." HanKyung stared at the floor, obviously nervous. "I... have a confession to make."
The two had decided to hang out for a while after EeTeuk left, to give HeeChul and Kanata both a chance to calm down so things wouldn't be too awkward when Kanata went back. After an hour or so, the dancer's concience was eating away at him again, and he made up his mind to finally tell Kanata the truth.
The Japanese boy glanced at him curiously, abandoning the cookie he'd been munching on. "What?"
Fidgeting, and still unable to meet Kanata's eyes, HanKyung took a deep breath and blurted, "I'm SO sorry!"
"...Huh?" Kanata stared at him, confused, and the other young man reluctantly continued.
"I've been purposely trying to keep you and HeeChul from getting together, because... I was jealous." He swallowed and inched away a little, as if afraid his friend would hit him. "I was jealous of all the time HeeChul got to spend with you, when I hardly ever got to see you... because... because at some point, I... I fell in love with you."
Suddenly, Kanata was looking everywhere but at HanKyung. He didn't know what to do or say; should he hug Han-san? Get up and leave? He knew he should at least say something, but his mind was blank. Everything seemed like the wrong thing.
Finally, he stood, shoved his hands in his pockets, and murmured, "I have to go. I'm sorry to leave like this, but..." He hesitated, staring at the floor. "I need to think."
HanKyung nodded. "Go ahead. Sorry if I made everything awkward." I just couldn't take the guilt anymore.
"...It's okay. I just... need to think for a while. See you later." As he spoke, he practically ran for the door, almost forgetting to put his shoes on before he left.
He was so preoccupied with trying to figure out when the hell his life had become so complicated, that it wasn't until he had his hand on the doorknob, ready to go inside, that he remembered EeTeuk running out to comfort a hysterical HeeChul.
Swallowing nervously, he took a deep breath and forced himself to go inside, hoping his costar was already asleep. Needless to say, he was a little surprised to see HeeChul and EeTeuk cuddling on the couch, both crying hysterically and yelling at the television.
"...What the hell is going on?"
They both jumped, clearly surprised, and while EeTeuk reached for the box of tissues, avoiding Kanata's eyes, HeeChul paused whatever they were watching and jumped to his feet.
"How COULD you?!"
"Eh?" Kanata stared at him, completely lost.
HeeChul pointed at the TV, and, curious, the teen stepped forward so he could see it. "You were gonna BURN them?!"
"..." For a moment, Kanata was speechless as he stared at the image of himself on the screen, pouring some sort of flammable liquid onto a pile of paintings. Then, slowly, he turned back to HeeChul and very, very quietly, asked, "Is this what you called Kirei about?"
"Kirei? Oh, you mean Teukie? Yeah." HeeChul wiped the last of his tears away, glaring at him. "I can't believe you were going to BURN the paintings!"
Kanata sighed, brushing past him. "It was just a drama, hyung. It's not real. You, of all people, should understand that."
"So?" The older boy pouted. "I still can't beli-"
"I'm going to bed," Kanata interrupted, just before he closed the bedroom door behind him with a sigh. He was flipping out about Himitsu no Hanazono? What the hell?
Deciding that trying to understand his insane costar was a lost cause - and definitely not worth the headache - he stripped to his boxers and crawled into bed, too tired to bother hunting for his pajamas. Why can't life ever be simple?
He thought about everything that had happened that day and closed his eyes with a soft sigh, wondering what he should do. How had he gotten mixed up in some crazy gay love triangle? If his mother caught wind of this, he knew, she'd laugh her ass off. It wasn't that she was insensitive, not by any stretch of the imagination, she just...had a strange sense of humor.
Thinking of his mother made his headache worse, so, deciding he'd had enough for one day, he got comfortable and went to sleep, never noticing when HeeChul slipped into bed next to him and held him close, stroking his hair affectionately.
