When I was out with Eri this weekend she mentioned that she wondered what kind of music was popular back in America right now. (She grew up in America, even though she lives in Japan now.) It reminded me of something that I've been thinking about recently. I've reached a point during my stay in Japan where I feel very out of touch with things back

Welcome to transnational living, baby. Even if you try really hard, this disconnection will happen and it will get a hold of you...I try to keep in touch with what's going on in Puerto Rico by reading the newspaper every other day, but realistically even the language sometimes fails me. You just get used to it.

I guess I was expecting it to happen eventually. It's not even the disconnect that I feel with America that gets me though, it's the disconnect that I feel with the people I know back in America.
