This is what I'm going to make for Thanksgiving dinner dessert since someone else made the pumpkin pie this year. I'm sort of relieved... I don't feel like making pie crust right now.

I made the cake today. It doesn't look anything like the photo! Hmmm. It smells wonderful. And it doesn't look terrible or anything bad like that, but, it just looks like a simple cake with apple chunks in it, then with holes poked in the top and some glaze-y thing poured over it. And it is thick -- it filled the pan. The pic showed a wedge that is crumbly and much darker-looking and is less than half the height/thickness of mine. Not sure what to think of this, wondering if I mis-measured or misread the amount of baking soda. No one else will know though, which is good. ;) Have to see how it tastes tomorrow. It shows it served with ice cream... that may be necessary now to make it seem nicer. And I might need to make a second batch of caramel too.

Not sure what the point of adding the vanilla last is either. There were a few logistics issues I had with the recipe.
