I've figured out why I like most of the musicians I like! Usually, the singer uses their voice like an instrument - as in, they do lots of different things with it, it's not just the same old singing. I think this is the only thing that makes my taste in music match up: The Cocteau Twins, Regina Spektor, The Cure, Cradle of Filth... the singers
