I'm writing a thing.  I'm slamming my head into a wall, but I'm writing something.  I'm writing it, and my friend Edgar (who is livejournal-less) is illustrating.  We're not even sure if it's going to be a mini-comic or an illustrated story or a whatever-the-hell-we-want, but my point is

I thought creaticide at first, but it has the wrong connotations. Second choice is woeful at best- "art". I certainly could butcher the concept with my limited knowledge of Latin and Germanic roots, but that doesn't seem to be worth your time.

No, I'd say you're on the right track. Again, I regret not taking Latin when I had the chance. I now go in search of roots and "-ixes" to build a better word.
