I am watching the Watchmen movie right now for the fist time! I'm kinda inspired by your squeeful posts. :)

[on the grounds that i have Film Issues (even though i watched it almost *immediately* after reading the graphic novel - there are... problems? some of which i am still trying to articulate to myself) - er, this is mainly a plea not to hate the whole concept if the film leaves you cold. (basically i think if i had watched it first i would not have gone HELLO NEW FANDOM WHEEEE! of course, if you like it? IGNORE MY DOOMSAYING!]

So, as often as I've tried, I just can't get into comics. Is a graphic novel a comic? See, I'm so out of touch, I don't even know. Sorry.

I can never seem to figure out if I read the entire page, the look at the pictures, or vice versa. My eyes don't know where to go first or in what order. Plus, I love the bright colors and pretty pictures, but it is almost like sensory overload.

Maybe I've just never had anyone who can explain it properly. IDEK.

hah, yes, graphic novel is really just a way of making "comic" sound more... fancy? (it's just a LONG comic - all the parts bound together). and orderwise you - start at the top left and go sideways like books? however, that's not going to help - i think maybe if it seems like it needs explaining there's something about the medium that just doesn't click with you (a bit like me and realistic[ish] soap operas - i lack the gene!) i guess i mean that i both get and don't get what you mean; it is a specific medium for storytelling - it presumably just doesn't *work* for everyone! (which is actually pretty interesting; i wonder if anyone has ever looked at differences between how people process comics compared to say, animation and the written word? i wonder if e.g. it's harder to follow comics if you find your focus is pulled more to the images or the words instead of split about equally between them, say?)
