LOL in our continuing quest to watch ALL THE THINGS with Doctor Who alum, firstofoct and I just watched The Ruby in the Smoke with Billie Piper and Matt Smith.
The part that made me cry in the book is probably not the part that makes normal people cry, tbf. I don't find Pullman a very emotional writer. But he does use a trope that ALWAYS gets me, even in the most poorly-written context.
LOL. NO, YOU WON'T. AND THEN ONE DAY YOU WILL HAVE SEX WITH HER. Why does this keep happening to you, Matt Smith. I am never letting you near my imaginary children.
LOL LOL
...And that's my cereal all over my computer monitor. ARGH!
So I read in the comments that these are Pullman books? The only thing I've read of him was "His Dark Materials" Trilogy, and, yeah, there's some sort of bizarre agenda my teenage brain could not get, so maybe the books will be first to go. Although Netflix...has it. Huh. *adds*
I'm too distracted with other things to sit down for five minutes to read. It does happen. My phone keeps ringing at me so I MUST SEE EMAILS.
I'M NOT EVEN KIDDING. THAT LITERALLY HAPPENS IN THE SALLY LOCKHART BOOKS, TOO. Matt Smith is a repeat offender. (In the books, though, Matt Smith's character is like 10 in this first book and therefore only a couple years older than the kid he loses, so it does not have the same creepy undertones in terms of age gap.)
I read HDM a year or two ago as an adult (or... mostly adult) and liked it, but that was mostly because as an adult I enjoyed working out what he was Doing Thar. I think as a kid I wouldn't have been that into it. I don't like his writing style overly much for the most part.
I remember seeing those a long time ago, and reading the books even longer ago... Your commentary is much more fun.
Matt Smith/Eleven and small children, hahahaha! He ought to have a baby-sitter warning label: Your child will probably disappear, and then possibly fall in love with this man, do not leave them with him.
DEFINITELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. Do not trust him with children, no matter how adorable it is! Craig will be lucky if Alfie doesn't develop a crippling obsession.
This is totally when they met, so the dating most likely started after a lot of LONG, SLOW KISSES in her trailer, which probably still serve as v. fond memories for the Mattster if you know what I mean. THEIR LOVE WAS REAL AND TRUE. and actually adorable okay kali you can laugh all you like.
If Billie was a superhero, tears would be her superpower. Peeps would be all up in her grill trying to kill her or take over the UK (lol) and she'd just crumple her pretty little face up at them and they'd be goners. Total break down, right in the middle of their carefully laid plans of world domination. So embarrassing.
It's got to be his personality, because while I admit that ever since having dreamed that he was a sub for my Spanish class who I was romantically interested in I've been solid on my belief that if given the opportunity, I'd go there, he's still a totally unusual looking dude, lol. And she dated him before hipsters came out of their ironic blanket forts! So it's extra confusing.
lol sorry matt today is not your day in kali's comments
And yeah, I usually take great joy and comfort when people talk about Bills for no reason but even I was like, really guys? Though let's be honest I'd be high fiving whoever I could if I'd hit that too.

Matt and Billie dating is so hilarious to me IDK why. For a sort of... unusual...looking dude, he clearly has game. Daisy Lowe is quite pretty too.
