Helloooo starcandians ^o^ [Mod post]
First off: Happy 2007 to all~
You may or may not know this, but our community had it's first anniversary on the 2nd of January this year. Not only that, but it's grown to over ☆300☆ members since the first of the year! That's absolutely fabulous.
When kaiiser and I made this place, we had no idea it would grow like it has. With limited advertising, supporting a couple that's not as 'popular' as some others, and a name that's not at all an indication of what the subject matter is about, we've been pleasantly surprised and very happy whenever a new member finds us.
Speaking of the name of this community, I'll give you a bit of a backstory on why it is what it is, if you've been curious.
☆kaiiser and I loved these two from the onset of our foray into TVXQ, and after some looking around, we discovered there were 3 other communities dedicated to other couples, but not for JaeJoong&ChangMin. This was unacceptable! XP So, it was a mutual decision that a jaemin community just had to be made, and we'd be the ones to do it.
☆Whoops. Roadblock! The sad truth smacked us in the face. Neither of us have any sense of creative naming at all. What to do?
☆There were ponderings of jaemin yongwonhi to be similar with two of the others at the time, but if you insert an underscore, it doesn't fit the character limit for a livejournal user name. And all that as onebigword just looked messy. We were stuck. Ohno!
☆I had a sudden burst of inspiration, and under a bit of influence from 'Cassiopeia' I started thinking of astrological names. Planets, stars, the moon and sun - and looking up the names of some of these in korean. I almost ended up making it taeyang_dal (Sun/Moon - opposites. warm/cold. changmin/jaejoong...) but that just sounded strange, plus the sun and moon never meet! Not a very good metaphor for a 'couple' at all.
☆In frustration, I was chatting with a dear friend and running some possibilities by her. I mentioned byul [just "star", not the singer ;D] to her and she told me about these candies she'd get from the Korean stores near her. Starcandy. I thought that was adorable.
☆After a few more failed ideas, and more discussion with kaiiser, I kept coming back to starcandy, and it stuck~ Star-Bright, sparkling, intense heat. Candy- Sweet, childish, playful. If you think about it, it's pretty appropriate in that way for these two in both their fanon and canon relationship, yes? :)
☆underscore added because someone already had that name.
So, that's the story behind the community name.
While celebrating a year in existence and all of our members, I'll make a list of a few things to be aware of and some reminders:
☆be sure that you've joined the comm and aren't just watching it. There are locked posts from time to time with multimedia, art, or graphics and you don't want to miss those, right?
☆lock those media posts ♥
☆I realize everyone is busy, but leaving comments for the authors, artists, and contributors to this comm whenever you can is highly appreciated. It doesn't have to be long at all; just enough to let them know you're there and enjoying what they're offering is great. Show some love~ We're a friendly bunch, believe me.
☆Tags! Please remember to tag any entries you make to the community.
the list is simple: fiction, fanart, audio/video, pictures, icons, miscellaneous (graphics, wallpapers, etcetc.) add whichever one is appropriate first.
for authors/artists: if you've posted anything on this community from the beginning up until a week or two ago, you have a tag specifically for your username. use it next.
for chapter fic, your title is, or will be added soon to the tag list. So use the tag for the title of your chapter fic as well, please.
Other titles for one-shots will be added by one of the mods as soon as we can.
and finally the NC-17 tag. use it for anything sexual in nature As for the specifics of what that means, I'll leave it up to the author to decide. but if I disagree, I might re-tag it, just in case. ;D
please, please, please use the tagging system. It makes it so much easier to find favorites, or specific posts for everyone, and is extremely beneficial to new members. Use them, everyone!
☆☆JaeJoong's birthday is coming up very soon, and ChangMin's is a bit over 3 weeks after. Expect a contest or event soon, Mkay~? ^o^-V
