Full PS icon tutorial

a tutorial

well this icon came from a manipulation i made for An Angel's World Padme Amidala main page
i'm not gonna explain how i made the manipulation, cause this isnt a blending/masking tutorial...
i crop it to my base

then, using a brush by thia i just distorted a bit the flat edge the top of the icon had.

hit shift+ctrl+alt+e, and theres you merged base, duplicate it twice, set both to screen

weird, i know, but we need it to look like this cause adding some dark ingredients will make it look darker
now, add an exclusion layer in that color i love oh so much :) #010717

a texture by tre after a lot of adjusting...set to soft light 100%

--->

whoa, even lighter, but we'll fix that later (this is due to the icon
not being made in this order, i first made soemthing that looked like an
icon, and then started adding things to make it look better)

a gradient, set to color burn 100%, to tint the color a bit

--->

now, add a texture, by tre, i masked away everythign that was getting
over the pic and left only the top part of it visible, set to multiply
100%

--->

then, i made one of those "complicate my life" thingies that look like
gradients but aren't, to even the colors at least a bit, set to soft
light 100%

--->

floodfill with #e8e6d2, yet another color i use in almost every icon, set to multiply 100%

duplicate the base layer again, slide it over to the top and set to soft light 100%, desaturated

now, its still a little too light, so i untick one of the screen layers...

see, thats muuuuuuuuch better.
now i just added "metamorphosis" and some small text, and thats it.

to be honest, i have no idea why everyone chose this icon, i personally think it SUX big time...
