Okay, this is reasonable. Perhaps too reasonable...

Might I suggest the rest of the world take up the task of prosecuting Bush? That is an area in which America could certainly use some help.

Ah, but he is not our girlfriend. He is an international mass murderer.

Either international law means something, or it doesn't. This is a situation where America is appropriate to ask for help. We obviously cannot prosecute a former president in America. It is a practical impossibility.

Add to this the simple fact that the worst of his crimes were committed overseas. The stuff in America is small change, procedural at best. Even the torture happened overseas.

If the ICC wanted to take Bush off our hands, I really don't think you'd have all that much trouble convincing us to let them take him off our hands. On a very deep cultural level, America needs to at least symbolically make this right. We cannot stand to not be the good guys.

BTW, a co-worker and I were talking about expert systems and the discussion turned at one point to CYC. I'd heard of it but not followed up, so I visited Cycorp's website and learned the company was based in Austin. Is that where you work?
