This is my dream garden... it took the picture of a picture in a book, so it's not the best quality, but you get the idea.

My herbs were really struggling this summer, with the 100 degree temps and all, but now they are really beautiful and growing like crazy :D

My peppers are just now growing... I wonder if it was too hot for them?

YUMMMMMMM Asparagus.

This spring is porch making\garden starting time for us. We're going to do some major planting and "yard scaping" I can't wait!!!!!

I like that garden in the picture....and I'd add some more colorful flowers to it as well.

The garden in the photo - I found a book at TJ Maxx for $3 about the house and gardens. It's called Seasons at Seven Gates Farm. SO WORTH THE $3 - it gave me so much inspiration. I think the house was built around 1850, and the gardens the guys (two men own it) created there are just incredible. The garden used to be more colorful, but they changed it to all-white. That is just the main garden, they have several smaller ones and a greenhouse. The greenhouse just made me drool - I want one SO bad. It doesn't have to be big, maybe just a bit bigger than a telephone booth. A place to start seeds, winter some of my plants, etc. I am sure we could get all the materials we need at the salvage yard for under $100.

But what inspired me most about the picture is how the garden is just right there in the middle of the back yard. Sounds silly, but it never occured to me to do it that way!

You might need to stay unemployed--cause when you get a house you are going to be WAY too busy to have a job!!

Hehe

:)

I certainly won't mind being busy... anything is better than this!

I made a mustard/tarragon chicken last night too, weird. I did use the course-grain mustard and it was yummy.

We're big on the coarse grained stuff here - dijon is good, but it's very mild. What was your recipe like?

It was about a tbsp of mustard, some evoo, dried tarragon like 1/2 tsp, a little bit of salt, and whole peppercorns. Although I think next time I'm just going to use pepper, the flavor of the peppercorns didn't really spread throughout, just in random bursts where they were. Mixed it all together, coated the chicken in it and put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes, then broiled it for 15 flipping the breasts 1/2 way through.

Oh my gravy, I love that book, too! I'll have to try that recipe.

LOVE the garden! Oh Shawna, Shawna, how does your garden grow? ;)

And I love the fiesta platters!

My garden doesn't grow right now - since I don't have one - but it WILL, by golly, it WILL.

I still can't believe the platters were only $2.99. YOU need fiesta, too, don't you? I tried to make Jenbug see the light at the Flea Market, but no dice. Haha. Just me and Caiter understand the madness, I guess.
