Passion

The past couple of weeks I've been really thinking about what it is that I want to do with my life and what it is that I'm really passionate about. I have alot of interests and tend to be a bit scatterbrained in terms of staying focus on one thing. A few things have remained constant since I was a little girl; writing, fashion, language and travel ( Read more... )

inspiration, passion

it would be cool if you could major in journalism, and minor in linguistics, or travel and tourism, and then one day work for a fashion magazine, and travel the world going to the major fashion events, and maybe one day end up being an fashion editor of your own magazine!

as for me i'm not sure, but one field i would have loved to gone into would be public relations, going to events, dealing with the public, and the entertainment business!! But like i love teaching, and talking and analyzing, and reading, my major was elementary education but i'm changing it to psychology, i'm also interested in the criminal justice field, when i was in high school i was in the criminal justice program at my school, and i'm currently tryin to get a job as a police dispatch (cause they get paid a decent salary =]) but anyway i'm babbling now, but yeah the one thing i would love to do would be work in public relations

girl you hit the nail on the head! I always wanted my own magazine for young women of color. Kind of what Essence tried to do with Suede. To travel the world promoting my work and meeting diff people would be so cool. Ahh I can see it now, sitting on the side of a huge runway show in Milan...

Public relations is cool, especially in the entertainment business. Some of those people need some help when it comes to talkin to the press. Police dispatch? I'm tryna get a job as 911 operator because the pay is GOOD but I'm kind of nervous about how I would handle the calls. Like if someone called in in the middle of a crisis like getting attacked or something. I guess after doing a job like that you kind of get used to it.

Thanks for sharing hun.

well there is a difference between a police dispatcher and a complaint officer, a complaint officer is the one who takes the calls from the public, the the dispatch contacts the police, and keeps track of patrol cars and such, but since my county puts you in the system for both i have to see after like when they call me back do i get to choose which one i would like to do, but i think it has a lot to do with how you do in training and your score on the typing test.

and yeah thats one thing i am afraid of like a little kid calling saying his dad just shot is mom or somethin like that, i don't kno what i would do

My passion.. Writing is my passion, it has always been my passion.. I love it, I love expressing through my words, etc. I love traveling as well.. though, I can be anti-social sometimes, I love getting to know about people- yes I can be nosey.. :O)

Hence, why I'm majoring in Journalism, and why I started my Magazine... but, in this field you have to love what you do, and work hard in it, there's a lot of compeitition, and you will MEET a lot of "just talk, and no action" type of people in this business.

The key in this business, is to make your voice me heard, and let your name be known... you gotta LOVE what you do, cause you don't make big bucks in this field either.. You sacrifice a lot of things as well.

You know writing is my passion Nik. I could see myself doing that for the rest of my life. Like I have stated numerous times on my journal. Something about writing that just makes me feel free in a way. Can't no one take it from me.

I also have a love for the arts. All forms of it. Whether it be photography, makeup, drawing. I love it all.
