Yep, I've started working on another costume...Blah. I just can't help myself! I looved the Ironettes from the moment I first saw the Iron Man 2 trailer. I also knew that DragonCon would have them in spades. Which is why I want to make one. Awesome group photos!

So I've been working on the screen printing segment of the ST:2009 dress. Here are the problems I'm dealing with at the moment:

My screen is splotchy. I lost some of the detail during the burning/washing process. I'm going to attempt to do it again learning from my first mistakes. I may need to use a bought screen vs. the home made one. The home ( Read more... )

I got my fabric dyed today. I'm very pleased with how the Jacquard acid dye works. It is very even and saturated. I dyed in the dye vat to ensure no splotches. The vat also allows the water to get to the temperature it needs, which helped out a lot. I ended up using all three of my dyes (1/2 oz. each) which were Cherry Red (Primary), Crimson, and ( Read more... )

So for this year's ImagiCon here in Birmingham, I've been working on a Female Communications Officer uniform from the new Star Trek film. I wanted to do it for DragonCon last year, but I had to much to do already. It'll be fun to wear it to my professor's trek panels (He wrote for Next Generation back in the day). Laissez les bon temps rouler! Mardi Gras has been a blast, as usual! LOL. I got to attend the Pharoah's ball and marched in their parade with the 501st Legion and Rebel Legion. The Star Wars characters were a hit this year. We hope to do it again next year. My cousin was Grand Marshal this year and I also made his King Tut costume. It was great! I' ( Read more... )
