I haven't made it to Iron Crowned yet and am now going in with low expectations. I'll post when I have read it.
I'm rereading A Game of Thrones and intend to read the rest of the series this summer. I have the ebooks and will purchase the hardcovers throughout the year. These are books I must have on my bookshelves! But I agree, reading in ebook is so much easier for the tome that is AGOT. I felt the same way when I started rereading the Outlander series and was so thankful I purchased the books as ebooks for the reread.
Where Shadows Dance is on my purchase list. There are so many authors I read who are hardcover I have to plan out my purchases. *sigh* I loved the ending of the previous book so am looking forward to this newest installment. :)
I'm actually considering only getting the next Outlander book in ebook form whenever it next comes out. And I'm even considering getting rid of my hardbacks of the previous books after #3 and getting those in ebook form as well *gasp* I like being surrounded by books and having paper copies of my favorites but I'm going to have to start limiting the number of each series I have. For example, the In Death books I will no longer purchase paper copies of...they take up too much room! Only ebook versions from now on in that series.
I think you will like Where Shadows Dance. I especially like the way it ends.
I'm only getting In Death as ebook right now. I have more space than you for books so I'm not getting rid of any I actually own, but I'm being more critical about what I buy. If it's a book I think I'll not want to keep, I'll get the paper copy and give it away, or I'll get it from the library (ebook, if available *g*). If it's a series I collect or an author I love, I'll get it in which ever format is cheaper or easier to read. And I may also get the paper copy if it's a book I'll loan out or really, really want on my bookshelves.
I completely understand considering giving away all but the first three copies of Outlander. I don't have the first three in hardcover so am scouring garage sales to find them in the original covers. :)
Oh yay! I really looking forward to Where Shadows Dance now!
Your icon is adorable! It sort of reminds me of the bookstore in the Harry Potter movies.
I'm absolutely thinking more about what I buy in what version. If I'm buying something to read and I'm not sure if I will like it, I'm more inclined to get a paper copy because if I don't end up liking it, I can donate it to charity and get a deduction instead of having it left stuck on my reader.
You know its funny but I can remember where I found my hardback copies of the first three Outlanders - they were in a Waldenbooks at the Fashion Mall in Las Vegas. And I remember how excited I was when I found them! This must have been before amazon or the internet existed...lol. I have enjoyed but not loved the subsequent books. I guess that is why I'm less inclined to keep them in the long run.
Oh Roger and I are talking about starting Martin books soon. He's never read them and neither have I...and I suppose I need to tell people about Roger. ::cough::
New boyfriend, 44, runs JP Morgan/Chase servers in...wait for it...Chicago! He was here for a week this month and if all things go as planned? We'll be living together by summer's end. Which may be in...wait for it...CHICAGO! Ya...Great White North, here I come. He's also thinking of a Chase position in New Orleans but wants to stay near his two kids.
Annnyway...yeah. We're starting those books soon.
I met him playing World of Warcraft. Who says video games lead to nothing?
I can't decide if you will like the series or not. I can see you going either way! Are you watching the tv series?
It would be very cool if you ended up here after all these years!
You seem to have great success meeting people through WOW. So I guess the guy in Arizona is history? (Or am I getting them confused...I can't keep them straight because you update so infrequently!)
Actually? Roger is Michael's (Mr. Arizona) best friend.
Yeah, that doesn't look good, does it?
Michael and I split a while back due to his passive/aggressive behavior and inability to communicate any human emotion. We're still friends, and I'm still in the guild.
Roger? He and I hit it off first time we ever spoke. We were close from the start. He is going through a divorce (almost done!) and when Mike and I split, he asked me openly and honestly...did I think he had a chance with me?
Ha! Yes. He's the 'grown up' of the bunch (even though we're all over 30) because he does things like taste wine for fun and vote. But he's...amazing. We clicked immediately in all ways good.
He's made me so incredibly happy. He's a man that likes to talk about how he feels. I've seen him cry. His voice? Epic. Deep and sexy. Yeah...I likes him a lot.
I didn't think GRRM's book would be my cup of tea but I'm intrigued by the tv show so far and think I'll start the book over the summer. I've only heard good things.
It took me a long time to get past the prologue - like 4 years at least. LOL. But I actually read all the Dany chapters straight through and then got sucked in and read the rest of the book and found it really readable and enjoyable despite all the horrible things that happen.
