I totally buy into CARY'S long-time grievance against the firm (he's been treated abominably, as were most of the fourth years when their partnerships were yanked from under them), but Alicia? Will was right, she was lucky to get a job at the beginning of season 1, no one would touch her with a ten foot pole because of Peter, so I think she does owe Will something. Not staying at the firm forever, but at the very least not plotting behind their backs while staying three weeks and collecting client files and continuing to try to steal clients ( ... )

I had the same reaction as Peggy! I agree that Alicia has always been the moral center of the show, but I am LOVING her season and seeing her swim with the sharks. We've seen the rest of LG do everything they can to win over and over again, which isn't to say that there aren't any lines, but I don't find Alicia's actions this episode any more distasteful or self-serving than Diane selling out Will for the judgeship. Or Will getting Diane ousted. Or even Alicia using her connections to get hired over Cary way back in S1. Will totally had the right to feel betrayed, but him giving her a chance doesn't buy him her loyalty forever. And I found it off-putting that he framed her hiring as a noble act of courage when LG has gotten plenty out of it and used her as a pawn in really transparent ways (like promoting her to split up the fourth-years). She could have been more upfront with him, but even then there's no way that he would have graciously let her go ( ... )

I guess I'm just not all that interested in a race to the bottom: who can be more despicable?

I expect more from Alicia, which is why I'm furious with her for what she did in the episode. Had Will done something like that (to Alicia), I would have been just as furious, because even though I think Will is a less moral person, the one person he doesn't fuck over is Alicia. Had he done it to someone else, I wouldn't have thought much about it because it's in character for him. It's not in character for Alicia. Especially not to be so flippant about it.

I'm not sure I think revoking Diane's judgeship (not exactly the nice thing to do, but perfectly within his right) comes even close to threatening a company with a huge tax hike if they don't take on his wife's new firm as their lawyers. It wasn't even subtle, it was straight up blackmail!

This show is on fire this season! So, so good. This episode was amazeballs.

I can see everyone's POV, but I do think Alicia owed Will more. I would feel utterly betrayed, too. I do want them together in the end, but I'd be happy with anyone but Peter. Seriously, I detest that she took him back. But I'm sure he'll fuck Melissa George and Alicia will finally kick him to the curb. I hope!

I can't wait for the tense courtroom scenes that are sure to follow! :D

Yeah, if it wasn't so good, I wouldn't be nearly as mad/invested. I'd probably just quit in disgust.

Seriously, I detest that she took him back.
You and me both. I can't figure out what she sees in him. So much better if she'd be on her own or with someone entirely different if they don't want her with Will. I think so much less of her for being with Peter.
