That moment is so adorable, I just want to squish it. Unfortunately, not really well-composed for iconing...

I think that the problem may be that KB is contracted for VM, and if he wants an FBI show he's going to have to start over from scratch unless he tries to fit that square peg into that round hole.

I really don't think it's going to come to anything anyway.

P&P fanfic?! Umm. By the way, has any Mansfield Park surfaced yet? I've ordered the DVDs for the whole JA season thing, but still... Also, I've seen copies of the 1980 P&P floating around, and I must say that so far (ep 4 of 5) I think I might prefer this adaption over the film and over the 1995 adaption as well. But then, I've always had issues with the 1995 adaption.

There's P&P slash, even. I found some last time I went looking for P&P fic. Strangely, though I usually prefer higher rated fics, they don't work for me in this setting, the language suffers.

The site I linked is a JA fanfic site (though I think the focus is on P&P), so there may well be MP fic there, though I'm not really interested in finding that so I haven't looked. There's a user name/password issue, and if you want to search for yourself, you can find the info on how to access the site here.

I've actually grown less fond of the 1995 mini series since the movie. Not because I think it's a better adaptation (it's most definitely not), but because I think the 1995 version is too faithful an adaptation. I may as well reread the book, you know?

Oh, I meant the new ITV adaption (they're showing brand new dramatisations of Mansfield Park, Northanger Abbey, & Persuasion and the Kate Beckinsale Emma through March/April), not fic. I should have clarified, sorry. I haven't even read the sanctioned (?) continuation/completion of Sanditon, much less any Austen fic.

but because I think the 1995 version is too faithful an adaptation
Hmm. I'm not sure I agree, to be honest. Quite a few liberties taken; besides, Colin Firth just isn't that good. But well, if you're interested in the 1980 P&P I could hook you up.

Oh, you meant in a torrent sort of way. I was kind of wondering, but since I didn't even know about the new adaptations I was fumbling in the dark a bit.

I like Colin Firth just fine (though I actually prefer Matthew Macfayden, which I never thought I'd say before watching the movie), but I think the mini series could have benefited from editing. A book is a book and an adaptation should try to do just that: adapt to the new medium. I don't really feel that it does, simple as that.

Thanks for the offer, but right now I'm not really in the mood for more actors/settings to gum up the works. I may track it down later, though. =)

Danny and Oswald chasing Phil around was one of the all-time great TAR moments. "I'm gonna hug you, Phil!" The look on Phil's face was PRICELESS. That's one of the fun things about all-stars, Phil has a closer relationship with all these people than he does with an all-new cast. Makes for some really adorable interactions.

I don't think it's quite overtaken their shopping excursion in Hong Kong, but mainly because it didn't last as long. I love those guys and I hope so very much that they win. They deserve it.

And I agree, you can tell that Phil has some very definite opinions about these people. Some good, some not so good...

Have to say I'm not really sure about the whole messing with Jane Austen thing.

And I'm feeling less thrilled about even the scenario I proposed in terms of season 4, for the very good reasons laid out by leucocrystal here and depudor, to whom she links. Girl wouldn't even get in to the FBI, wouldn't pass the background check to start with.

And really, since Jason is out, I'm out on another season. FBI or not. Just not going there.

Have to say, it's taken a lot for RT to piss off arguably the most hope-filled fangirl on LJ, but he's done it with the decision to take Jason out of the show.

(Gosh, kinda seems like I just stopped by to pee in your wheaties. :) Sorry about that.)

It used to be that I could only read fic for one fandom and one pairing, but these days I'll try anything at least once. Some things become obsessions, some things are merely passing fancies.

When I read your post I was already aware of the objections raised, since it's been discussed countless times on my flist, but since I've already pretty much concluded that VM is actually a parallel universe where our rules don't apply, my main concern is more in terms of Veronica as a character. Because the girl just does not work as a team player. Ever.

I'm never one to say "never again", but I do consider a show that comes from this (and I don't believe in a million years that a show WILL come from this, but hypothetically...) to be divorced from canon. It's a spin-off, not season 4. And a spin-off has to prove itself all over again and with RT's willful blindness to Veronica's flaws I don't believe anything good will come from it, so it already has that prejudice to overcome.

That cap is the CUTEST! I just watched that episode this weekend.

I can actually see Veronica wanting to be an FBI agent right now, because I don't think she knows herself, and especially not her weaknesses, very well. I think it's all tangled up in her reluctance to take a closer look at any part of her own psyche/emotions.I agree - from what we've seen on the show, I think she knows deep down that she's not the type of person who's made to play by the rules, but she still wants to cling to that ideal of herself as someone who's, you know, law abiding and goes about doing things the right way in order to get justice ( ... )

I love how that moment is so brief that I never noticed how they had simultaneous CUTE expressions ( ... )
