tl;dr

Someone asked me recently which day my favorite TV moment this year aired, but I have tried looking for the comment and I can't find it, and I can't remember who it was, so I'll just tell you here: it was the Feb. 1 airing of The Daily Show.

I watched An Inconvenient Truth last night. This is more of a tl;dr cut than a spoiler cut, 'cause you guys all know it's about global warming, right? )

tv: america's next top model, icons, politics

Isn't the Russian girl just the worst? Maybe it's a Russian mentality thing, but she pokes every.single.one of my sensitive spots. I thought it might be because my Dad married a Russian girls 32 years younger than him and that I was projecting. The wife is so much like that girl - the righteousness, the imposing of opinion onto others. Grr. Got me all worked up and I'm actually really glad you found her to be horrible, too.

I don't like that Sarah chick, she brags way too much. Jaeda (?) scares me and I cannot see the model in her at all. And Miss-entitled, aka the one who was jealous b/c other people won challenges using their skills? Please! (I think it'S Renee, maybe). So yeah - not watching. Too stressfull. Or maybe a marathon later on, while cleaning or something.

I really didn't like her. And a lot of it came from feeling that, to her, nothing underneath the surface matters, only looks and material possessions. I hate people like that, especially when they take it upon themselves to judge others who have other values they hold dear.

I think Sara is extremely young and insecure, and yeah, a bit of a braggart. But I can't hate her for it simply because she's so young. It feels a lot like she doesn't know better.

I found Jael a bit weird. I mean, she looks like this hard-nosed chick (and I think having her be a pro-lifer, in that frumpy smock, was a big misstep on the part of Jay), but then she turns into this whimpering idiot who only wants people to like her. What the hell was that? Show some backbone for crying out loud!

I loved an Inconvenient Truth as well, although my love of Al Gore was somewhat tampered when the stats came out about the amount of electricity his house uses. Something like twenty times the national average. Eeeep! That's just no good. :(

Also? ANTM bugged the hell out me too; especially the ugly Russian chick.

I saw that about his electricity use, and it didn't surprise me one bit. I'm more surprised other people find it surprising. I bet if you tested all the other current and past senators/vice presidents/presidents/politicians their electricity usage would probably be that or much more.

For instance, I bet my electricity usage is about double the average because I work at home. Doesn't mean I'm irresponsible, only that I don't use electricity in other places. And I'm sure Al Gore works from home a lot too.

Tyra has been bugging me for a few seasons now, but probably not for the reasons she seems to bug others. I just think she's a crappy host for this particular show.

The spokesperson for his utilities company said that Gore buys "green" energy at a substantially larger cost, enough to cover his entire usage. Of course, that hasn't been as widely reported as his amazingly large usage. :(

Interestingly, she also said the group that claims it requested and received the initial usage information in fact *never* made a request to the utility and was never given any information by it.

I think that in 30 years people will look back and go: "back then, that's when they could have done something, that's when they could have stopped this".

Of course, I also happen to believe that "back then" would mean mid-to-late 80s, not now. At this point, I think our only hope is to mitigate the damage.

I wholeheartedly agree, which is just too depressing for words. When people in my downtown condo complex are still buying H2s that hardly fit in the parking garage, I wonder sometimes if they live in the same reality as I do.

It is depressing, especially with the past few years' political climate in the US. Most other nations at least recognize the problem, but the current administration has actively tried to hide the problem.

Oh man, figures I'd go and install the new "improved" version that annoys me instead of the original one that doesn't. *facepalm*

Thanks!

I think that icon is beautiful (your coloring continues to amaze me) and it doesn't look over-sharpened, just crisp. I like crisp. May I steal it?

Thanks! I still feel like Logan's hair and the tiles are off, so I'll probably redo it when I open up PS next time. If you want this version you can take it now. =)
