Wait, why was it pulled from the international market? That's strange.
My suggestion is that you download it, since you're going to buy it anyway. Honestly, a few things happen in it that if I'd been spoilt for, I'd have been mightily pissed. I'd rather you see them happen yourself on an illegal copy (are there seriously torrents out for it already? whoa) than be spoilt and know what's coming.
It didn't do well enough at the US box office, so UIP basically felt that a marketing campaign overseas would be throwing good money after bad.
There have been torrents for it since it was released basically. I, of course, would much rather see a screener version than a cam version. I think I'm gonna hit up one of my more "connected" friends, see if there's a good version out there.
SERENITY WAS PULLED FROM THE INTERNATIONAL MARKET??? I've been pretty much hiding from the Serenity-buzz in general as our Dec. 2 release date was giving me hives, but that's--- just--- GAHH!
I KNOW! Of course, I found out a few weeks ago, so my ire has settled down somewhat, but I'm still extremely bummed because I wanted to see it on the big screen and now I'll never get the chance.
If you're interested in the reasoning for it, Tissa made a post about it here, from an industry insider's point of view.
Oh, and you're in Norway, right? Because I ordered it from this site, which I found when lurking around some Swedish VM forum. It's not mindbogglingly cheap, but they do import the DVDs for you (customs charges added, I'd imagine) and the reason I ordered from there is that they apparently deliver the DVDs on the same day it's released. Some people on that forum even got the VM DVDs a day before it was released in the States. And that was a whole lot of useless knowledge if you don't have the ability to play r1 DVDs. *g*
Well, I just learned that the premiere may only have been rescheduled here (it's now apparently listed as the 25th, even though it was nowhere to be found a few weeks ago). Weird, because I thought for sure it would have been pulled completely because UiP had no interest in releasing it. We'll see what happens.
If you've pre-ordered the DVD, and you would have paid for it in the theater if it, you know, CAME TO YOUR COUNTRY (WTF? How unfair!) then I don't think you're hurting Joss by downloading it. I mean, come ON.
The Weavers (heee, I first typed Reavers)...it's bizarre. It's like they've got no social conditioning. Like somehow the world and the people in it totally baffle them, making them act bizarre and borderline creepy constantly. They treat people like shit, then attempt to be nice and wonder why people don't fall for it. Like being so offended when the Linz brother wouldn't give them a high five when they were off to do the bailing task, when they'd just tried to get a park ranger to detain them in order to slow them down, and at which point the Linzs were told by the ranger that "that team in front of you was trash talking you something fierce." And to then be all, "We've always been nice to them!" Huh? Yeah, they're so socially inept that it's almost interesting to watch them.
The Weavers (heee, I first typed Reavers) But that's completely understandable as it's so fitting.
Like I said to someone, my biggest problem with the Weavers is that when all is said and done, I think the Paolos will go home and watch this and see that they look pretty damn awful, while the Weavers will go home and think that they were unfairly portrayed or not even see that they did anything wrong.
And man, when poor DJ was cornered by the entire Weaver clan I felt so sorry for him. No one deserves that.

The region 1 DVDs are available for pre-ordering. Have been for about a week. =)

I think this might warrant the purchase of a new DVD-player, because god knows if they'll ever release a R2 one. Crap.

I think I might have a look around, see if there's a screener version out there somewhere. If there isn't now, I'm sure there will be soon.
