Okay, I know pianodude34 has started a new version of this community that can keep track of all the comments made, which is really cool, and not something I can really do. But, well, I like it here and don't want to see the place just die. So I'm using whatever moderator powers I may have to keep the posts coming as long as people want to

The only thing about it is, I heard about the other one first, PLUS I like the competition of seeing who can make the most comments.

They might, but seriously, the 665 members we once had will NEVER be back. We have 20 active members, seriously, and they're all at the new community, that's why I made one, for the ones who would follow over.

Oh, I know. Most of them were never active at any point in time. But I know there are some that haven't joined over at the new community, who are active sporadically, and who might still want to post. And, who knows, some of the active members might still want to post here, too. Which is why I'm making this post, to find out. That's all.

And, I'd like to add, I guess I don't like that you didn't contact the other moderators (well, at least I know you didn't contact me) about closing the last post. I don't really like seeing, in big bold letters, "DON'T comment here EVER AGAIN!!!" It makes it look like we should avoid this place like it's the plague or something. I've been here since the first post over on the old randomquestions community, and I made a lot of friends along the way. When that community got deleted it kind of made us sad, which is why squealer decided we needed a community to continue the comment whoring. (And the whole story can be found in the history of the community I wrote up).

So it's not that I'm being mean or anything, and I really hope you don't think that about me. It's just that there are a lot of memories that go along with the community, and I hate to see it just dropped like this.

I'm confused about why/how comments don't count here anymore..

Well, the person who made the community, squealer, was the one who had a way of keeping track of how many comments everybody made. However, she doesn't seem to be around LJ anymore. I don't really have time to take the effort in figuring out how to keep track of everybody else's comments (or even my own, for that matter), and I'm only a moderator, not a maintainer, so I can't really make any real adjustments to the community to give someone else the power to do that. So on the last bunch of posts, no one has been keeping track of how many comments everybody made, to update the "valuable members" list.

So now pianodude34 has started a new community where he has set up a way to keep track of everybody's comments. It's not that your comments "don't count" here. I still had fun commenting here with everybody, and didn't care that there was no contest to see who commented the most. But if you want someone to keep track of how many comments you make on a post, you'll have to go over to the new version of the community
