Title: Patient Forgiveness
Author: myforgottenpain
Rating: R for content
Pairing: Vam all the way!
Summary: When Bam and Ville finally are given a chance to be together, will they be able to make the life they always wanted?
Disclaimer: I don’t own anything connected to HIM, Ville Valo, or Bam Margera. Nor do I imply that in reality they are anything but friends. I, however, could not pass up a great idea for a fan fiction!
Warnings: Angsty in the beginning, but it will get better! I swear!
Authors Notes: I'm still pulling this story together, so hopefully it will work well with me posting it before its done. I've only rewritten this story like... eight times...
FYI: äiti* = mother in Finnish
It was mid afternoon by the time they made it to Jesse and Mrs. Rintala's home, and despite the long hours on a plane, they were wide awake and anxious to see their family.
Mrs. Rintala was waiting for them, a fresh kettle of tea on the stove and a pan of cookies in the oven. They were sad to learn that Jesse was at a tournament and had been unable to come back to see them. Mrs. Rintala was equally sad to see that the twins had been left behind. She adored the way they had picked up calling her äiti* Alli, despite there being no way for this to happen.
Ville had corrected them a few times, but had been assured by Mrs. Rintala, that as long as it didn't bother them, it didn't bother her; so she became the twins äiti* Alli as well.
Bam and Ville were not planning on staying long, since the real focus of this weekend was to go to Russia, to possibly find a child. But they wanted to stop in and at least see Mrs. Rintala before they went on to the next country.
"It must be odd to be so far from your children." Mrs. Rintala commented.
"It is... and I keep worrying that they are bothering Katri and Ryan, what with the new baby and everything." Bam said.
"How is little Elina doing?" Mrs. Rintala asked.
"Doing very well....she is such a beautiful little girl." Ville said.
Mrs. Rintala smiled, "How wonderful for them." She got up slowly and walked over to the mantel place, where they kept family photo's. She picked up the one Ryan had sent her with himself, Katri, and Elina when she was first home from the hospital. "Elina Katariina Dunn...." She said softly, looking to Ville and Bam. "At least Anita would have been proud of her for once."
"How so?" Bam asked when he saw Ville nodding.
"In Hungaria, girls receive their mothers first name as a middle name." Ville explained.
"Oh really?" Bam said in general surprise.
Mrs. Rintala smiled and nodded this time. "Technically she would have had the middle name Katariinakisaz, since that literally means, the daughter of Katariina... but I think just the fact that her name was in there, would have made Anita happy."
"I don't think they did it intentionally." Ville started, looking from Mrs. Rintala to Bam.
"I know they didn't. Ryan wanted her middle name to be Katariina and Katri was set against it. He talked her into though since he loves her name so much and thinks it's so beautiful." Bam said, pausing for a moment with a reflective sort of look on his face. "Do you think this could be why she didn't want Elina's middle name to be Katariina?"
"I wouldn't doubt it." Ville said.
"So wait... what's Katri's middle name?" Bam asked.
"Katariina Anitakasaz Valo." Mrs. Rintala said softly.
"No... actually it hasn't been that in a long time." Ville said, catching Mrs. Rintala off guard.
"What is it?"
Ville was quiet for a moment, surprised that Katri had never told her that she had her named changed, which he expressed to the older woman. "It's Katariina Allikasaz Valo."
Mrs. Rintala was stunned and didn't know how to respond to that. She slowly sat down, looking like she was on the verge of tears. "Why.... why would she do that?"
Ville moved over to Mrs. Rintala and took her hands gently. "I assume for the same reason I call you äiti* Alli... because to us... you are our mother."
The tears rolled down her cheeks then. Even though she had always thought of the Valo children as her own, and had been called äiti* Alli by them for many years, actually hearing that was something that filled her heart with happiness. She hugged Ville close and ran her hand over his head. "And you are my children... no matter what happens."

Katri looked up when she heard Niklas say her name. He was carrying his Octotunes by one of its worn tentacles, as he came over to the couch. He tossed it onto the couch, as he crawled onto it. He curled up into the corner like she was, beaming as he held his toy close. "I haf babeh."
"Oh you do?" Katri asked, putting her book down. "Is that your baby?"
Niklas nodded, "Like Elina."
"Oh I see... well if that is your baby, then you are going to have to be more careful with it."
"Why?" Niklas asked.
"Because baby's break really easily. If you guys get a new little brother or sister, you will have to be careful with it and take good care of them." Katri said.
"I can!" Niklas cried.
Katri chuckled, "I know you can." She leaned forward and changed the way Niklas was holding the toy. "Like this."
"O-tay."
"Now rock her gently." Katri said, helping Niklas as Esa came running into the room.
"I help Elina!" He announced to Niklas.
"I wanna!" Niklas yelled, tossing his toy down.
"Now that is what you should not do, with your future brother or sister." Katri said as Niklas slid off the couch to chase Esa.
"I told him not to say anything." Ryan said, crawling onto the couch with Katri, pulling her close. "How is the love of my life?"
"Good... How is the love of my life?"
"Good." They chuckled and kissed as the twins came running back into room. Ryan eventually got up and separated them, getting them to calm down and refocused on the toys.

Niklas was playing contently with his Octotunes, trying to rock it like Katri showed him, when Esa smacked it in its head. "No!"
Esa laughed and smacked it again.
"Stop! No!" Niklas yelled, trying to push his brother away.
"No!" Esa yelled back, pushing Niklas as he started hitting the toy again.
"Stop it!" Niklas yelled, covering the toy with his body as he tried to protect it from Esa.
Ryan was already walking into the living room to see what they were fighting over, picking up the speed when he heard Esa start crying.
Esa came running over to him, holding his arm out.
Ryan scooped the little boy up, soon flanked by Katri, who looked down to see an equally upset Niklas. "What happened?"
"Niko bite!" Esa yelled, indicating to Niklas, and indeed his right hand had the imprint of a small set of teeth.
"Niklas!" Ryan cried.
"Esa hit baby!" Niklas yelled, crying now himself.
Katri's raised an eyebrow. "A baby?"
"My baby." Niklas said as he indicated to himself.
"Oh...." Katri explained to Ryan how the Octotunes was his baby.
"Oh great." Ryan looked to Esa. "Did you hit his toy?"
"Baby." Niklas corrected, pouting as Katri picked him up.
"No." Esa said sharply.
"Yes!" Niklas yelled, which caused them to start yelling and fighting.
"Alright that is enough for you two." Ryan said as he moved away from Katri. "Lets get you two refocused on lunch."
Lunch went along smoothly, until Niklas asked if papa would be home soon. He had already asked that several times that morning alone.
"He'll be back soon." Katri said as she got up to feed Elina.
"Daddy?" Esa asked.
"Him too." Ryan answered, getting up to clean up the small mess he had made. He kept an eye on the twins that were getting more and more distracted from what remained of their meal. It started off on the amusing side, since they were just throwing bits of food at one another. But he could plainly see how tired they were and they were getting on each others nervous. Niklas was especially tired looking and getting frustrated with what Esa was doing to him.
"Alright, nap time." Ryan had been warned that Esa was not the easiest napper and he remembered those fights when he was still living there in their home. However, he was still surprised when Esa started wailing.
"No!"
Niklas was more than happy to get down off his chair, bringing his paper plate to the sink from sheer habit, putting it and his sippy cup in the sink. He watched from the doorway as Esa hit his plate and made a bigger mess.
When Ryan tried to move him from the kitchen, he went limp and hit the floor as he continued to cry.
Katri came in and quickly ushered Niklas upstairs, smiling a little at Ryan as he carried the screaming toddler upstairs.
Niklas just needed to be pointed in the right direction, climbing onto the bed with some help, lying down with his blanket and pillow.
Ryan put Esa on the bed, helping the little boy to lie down.
Despite still yelling, "No! No! No!" Esa laid down easily, rubbing his eyes as he continued to cry.
"Get some rest and you'll feel much better." Ryan said gently, kissing Esa on the cheek, even though he was trying to push his uncle away. He moved to the other side and kissed Niklas on the cheek.
He left the room, trying to remind himself that Bam said this would happen and to just ignore Esa's fit and he would lie down when he was ready. Which seemed to be easier said than done.
On the first check they thought he had gone to sleep since he was no longer crying. Just to find him on the second check, in the hallway, playing with his toys. Getting him back in the spare bedroom was another fight, though much weaker than the one before. A half an hour after it started and with Niklas some how sound asleep, Esa finally went to sleep as well.

It was late by the time they reached a little town, on the northern most tip, of the Baikal lake in Severobaykal'sk, Russia; but they were on their way to the orphanage anyways. Luka insisted that they come, even though most of the children had already gone to bed for the day and Bam and Ville longed to go there themselves.
"There is some one very special here... just got here last night... perfect timing." Luka said in an excited manner, that made his English even harder to understand. He lead them into the nursery, which had a few sleeping infants in it. He took them to the far corner of the room and indicated to the crib that was there. "I've been hiding her for when you came."
"You didn't really have to do that." Bam said softly, so he wouldn't wake the other children. He was behind Ville and Luka since he was looking at some of the other children, wishing he could take them all home.
He looked up when he heard Ville gasp, moving over to the older man when he reached out to him and said his name softly. He looked into the crib and found himself gasping as well. The child in the crib looked to be no more than a year or so old, with pale blond hair that curled at the nap of her neck. She looked like a little porcelain doll laying there, with her flushed cheeks and delicate features.
"She's beautiful." Ville gasped, reaching out to touch her hair.
"Like a little angel..." Bam added.
"Do you like?" Luka asked, looking between them.
"Well at first glance of course." Ville said, which seemed to make Luka fell relieved.
"Why is she here?" Bam asked, which made Luka now appear some what nervous.
"I really can't answer that." Luka said, figiding in his spot.
"Why not?" Bam asked.
"I just can't. If you want her, you can have her. I could make that happen." Luka said.
"I don't know..." Bam said as he looked to Ville, he could see already how much Ville was attached. "What do you think?"
"I want her." Ville said, which made Bam chuckle softly.
"I do too." He said, looking over the side of the crib at her. "Does she have a name?"
"Yes... Anya."
"Awwww...." Bam pouted, "I think I might be sold too. We should come back tomorrow so we can spend some time with her when she is awake."
Ville nodded "I think that is a good idea."
Luka beamed, "Wonderful... I'll see you tomorrow then."

The next day, Bam and Ville returned to the orphanage, just in time for her to wake up. She was standing in her crib when they entered the room, the only child who hadn't been taken to the main area. She was rubbing one of her eyes with her little hand and reached out for Ville as if she had known him all of her life.
"Aww.... little Anya..." Ville whispered, holding her gently in his arms, rocking her back and forth as he ran his hand over her back.
"What a little princess..." Bam said, reaching out to touch her cheek, standing close to Ville. "Why is she here?"
"Well I'm trying to keep her out of sight, so no one else wants her. Not to mention, gay couples aren't exactly welcomed openly."
"What would we tell them when he apply to adopt her? If we decided to do it?" Bam asked.
Ville frowned softly, resting his cheek on her head, "We tell them we are just friends."
Bam frowned now, "We will?"
"It's not like we are married Bam." Ville said.
"Thank goodness..." Luka put in, quickly adding, "It would be a lot harder then."
"I have a feeling this is not going to be an easy process anyways...." Ville started as he looked to Luka. "And it has nothing to do with us being gay."
Luka sighed a little and nodded, "Maybe."
Ville nodded, "Tell us everything you are allowed to tell us."
"Allowed?" Bam asked, looking between them.
"She is in perfect health, a little over a year old, and her name is Anya..." Luka said.
"And I'm sure that perfection will not be cheap." Ville said, looking to Luka again.
"Well its not going to be as expensive as it might have been. These are friends of mine and I'm sort of doing them a favor by taking her off their hands like this. He could have made a lot of money selling her elsewhere.... but I was able to talk him into going through me. That's all I can say."
Ville nodded, "How long would it take for everything to go through?"
"A few months at the most." Luka said.
"Could she be home with us by Christmas?" Bam asked and again Luka nodded.
"We'll have to think about this a little longer." Ville said.
"I understand... I'll be back... just play with her and talk alright?" He left, coming back to check on them now and then. The more time Bam and Ville spent with Anya, the more they wanted to take her home. They spent the whole day with her and came back the following day. They even called home and stayed an extra day to spend more time with her.
She took to them instantly, especially Ville. She would smile at them, laughing and playing with the toys with them. She was just a loving little girl, who seemed to be made for their family.
That night after she went to bed, Bam and Ville took a walk along the Baikal lake, taking advantage of the semi seclusion to hold each others hands.
"What do you want to do Ville?" Bam asked.
"I want to take her home... now."
Bam chuckled, "Well we can adopt her.... it's just not going to be cheap or easy."
"Or legal." Ville added in, making Bam chuckle again.
"Well there is that aspect of it too." Bam said as they continued walking. "I really want to adopt her. Even if her reasons for being there are sketchy at best."
"I do too...I think she would get along well with the boys, and we already know they will adore her... considering how they act towards Elina." Ville added in.
"I agree..." They slowed down as they reached a little clearing next to a lake, turning so they could watch the sun go down.
"It's beautiful here." Ville whispered as he watched the colors dance across the sky.
Bam looked to Ville and gazed at the side of his face. He realized now, more than ever, that he was even more attractive now; then he had been when they were younger. Maybe it was because they had both grown so much and their love for one another ran so deep. Maybe it was because he knew the strength Ville had in him. "Let's do it."
Ville looked to Bam. "Are you sure?"
Bam nodded, wrapping his arms around Ville's waist, pulling him closer. "Yes..." He answered, alerting Ville right away to what he was feeling when his voice cracked. "I want to adopt her, no matter what happened to bring her into our lives... I want to give her a home."
Ville nodded as he wrapped his arms around Bam, "I would like that too."
"And..." Bam started, pulling Ville even closer. "When we get home... I would like to marry you."
This time, Ville was in shock. Even though he had been asked this already, hearing Bam present it in such a manner, gripped his heart. "Bammie..."
"Marry me... please... I want us to be a real family. I want everyone to know that you are mine and I am yours.
"I am yours Bam... I always was... I always will be." Ville whispered back.
"So your saying you will?"
"I already did."
Bam smiled and leaned in to kiss Ville. "Then I should give this to you..." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small box and handed it to Ville.
Ville now felt like there was a lump in his throat. "Is this..."
"It's yours..." Bam said, opening it so Ville could see the band that was held in it.
Ville felt tears build up and slowly trickle down his cheeks. His hand was shaking as Bam slide the ring onto his finger, next to the one they shared. Lacing their fingers together, they leaned in and exchanged a passionate kiss. "I love you."
"I love you too."
"Should we go and tell Luka that we are ready to officially start this process?"
Ville nodded, "I think so."
