The house was filled with a scent that one could actually say was tasty. Jesse was leaning against the doorway, watching Anita bustle around the kitchen, content to be in her element. Ville walked up from behind his little brother, soon leaning over his shoulder, as he had done since his brother was old enough to walk.

Through the corner of her eyes, Anita watched her boys peering into the kitchen, as much a part of meal making as the actual ingredients. She smiled softly to herself, carefully cutting and mixing ingredients together.

"Smells delicious." Ville said softly, looking to Jesse for a moment.

"She's making my favorite!" Jesse said happily, looking back to their mother.

Ville smiled, "It's Bam's favorite too. I will have to try and get her to show me the recipe someday, so I can learn how to make it."

"You're a weird vegetarian Ville. You still like the smell of cooking meat, and you want to learn how to prepare it." Jesse said softly, with no intent to be rude or mean.

Anita looked over to her boys directly, meeting Ville's gaze for a moment. "It's not so much the smell of meat Jesse... as the smell of home." Ville explained. "Besides, it's not fair to expect Bam to change his lifestyle for mine."

"You were always able to appreciate every unique quality Bam had to offer." Jess said, pushing away from the doorway, knowing they only had so much time before Anita would send them away. Ville nodded, following Jesse silently away from the kitchen.

They made their way back into the living room, where most of their family was. Bam broke out in sudden, high pitched laughter, tucking his hands under his arms; falling to the side for a moment. Jess was laughing too, indicating for Bam to hurry and sit up. Once the skater was up right again, Jess stuck his hands out, palms down. Bam's hands were soon hovering over Jess' and after two failed tries, managed to smack Jess on the hands. Bam cheered, while Jess shook his hands off, ready to try and seek some revenge on his younger brother.

Since she didn't need to cook, April was catching up on laundry. She smiled happily as she watched her grandchildren playing a board game with their mother. Kari and Phil were in Phil's office, discussing Phil's method for organizing finical paper work.

Ville looked the scene over and realized that they were already a family, one big unit of craziness and love. He watched his brother join Jess' family in the board game they were playing, before he looked back at Bam. Bam signaled for Ville to join him and he happily walked over to sit on the couch with him. Sitting sort of behind Bam, Ville wrapped his arm around the younger man, leaning against him as he watched them continue playing.

"Doesn't that hurt Bam?" Ville asked softly.

"Yah, but its so much fun too!" Bam exclaimed, wincing when Jess really smacked his hands hard.

"Your hands are beat red." Ville asked, with a note of concern, looking them over. He could practically feel the sting that must have been coursing through Bam's skin.

"Thats nothing... look at Jess' hands."

Anita smiled happily to herself as she finished setting the table. Wiping the back of her hand quickly across her forehead, she checked everything over one last time. On every plate, except one, was a baked fillet of salmon, bones carefully pulled out with a pair of tweezers. Salt and pepper had been carefully sprinkled over each one, followed by a splash of lemon juice and sprigs of dill. Next to them, sat a modest pile of steamed potatoes. Like the salmon, they had been seasoned with a little salt, pepper, and dill sprigs. Anita had left the dill on both portions of the meal, for decoration.

Next to the meat and potatoes was a lovely little summer salad, with a special dressing of mustard, creme, lemon and dill. Also available were home made bread and egg cheese, which Anita had actually started the night before.

Keeping her vegetarian in mind, Anita had made Ville a summer vegetable soup, giving him a portion of the summer salad, and steamed potatoes as well. He was of course, more than welcome to enjoy the bread and cheese.

Bam was pleasantly surprised when he saw what Anita had made. He looked to her, his mouth opened in a wide smile. "This looks delicious Anita!"

Anita smiled, folding her apron up, to put aside until she needed it later. "I know its your favorite, just like my Jesse and Kari." She looked to her youngest son and rubbed his cheek affectionately. She turned to Kari and smoothed his hair before patting him on the cheek.

"Uncle Bam said you would make something weird." Ava said, to everyone's surprise.

Anita took it in stride though, smiling at the little girl. "Some of our food is weird compared to yours. Thats why I made this, I knew it was too good for anyone to pass up."

Ava smiled, "Except for Ville."

Ville chuckled and looked at his mother. Anita laughed, her smile broadening. "Ville does not eat meat anymore. But I will tell you a secret... he use to love this meal as a little boy." She winked at Ava making her giggle.

"What are you doing Mrs Valo?" Ava asked, touching the side of the counter, standing up on her tip toes to see what was happening.

Anita smiled down at her, carefully stirring the pot before her. "I'm making dessert. Would you like to know what it is called?"

Ava smiled more and nodded her head quickly, "Please."

"Lingonberry with Tianuchki sauce." Putting the spoon down, she held up one of the little red berries. "This is a lingonberry, it is from Finland like me and my family." She handed it to Ava so she could look at it. "Ville says it is like the cranberries you have here in America." She added, stirring the pot again. "This is a Tianuchki." Anita said, holding up a small piece of candy before handing it to Ava. "Its from Russia, its made of milk, a type of cream called smetana, sugar and vanilla. Go ahead and eat it." She replied, running her hand over the child's head.

Never passing up candy, Ava gladly devoured it. Her eyes brightened and she smiled more, "It taste like toffee!"

"Exactly... in my pot, I melted the Tianuchki and added more cream, sugar, and even a little soft brown sugar and vanilla bean. I'll cook it until its thick and a dark honey color and pour it over the frozen berries." Anita said, gazing down at the little girl. "Does that sound good?"

Ava nodded, "It sounds wonderful!"

Anita smiled, "I hope you enjoy it."

Bam hurried to the couch, pulling Ville along with him. Throwing himself into the corner, Bam turned quickly so he could face Ville. Ville sat down, facing Bam, entwining their legs as best as they could for optimum closeness. Holding delicate dessert dishes in their hands, they happily feed each other Anita's dessert. Bam made a moaning like noise when the sweet, yet tarty taste, hit his mouth. "Delicious."

Ville opened his mouth, letting Bam spoon in another bite, pausing for a moment to let it sit in his mouth before chewing. "Mmm... my favorite."

"This is really good." April said, taking another bite, suddenly very sad that the portion was so small. She smiled at Bam and Ville, catching movement from the corner of her eyes. She looked down in time to see Phil stealing a little bit of her dessert. "Hey!" She smacked Phil on the arm before stealing a bigger bit of Phil's.

"That's not fair!" Phil cried, before long they were wrestling over what was left in their mutual cups.

Ava giggled at them from her position on the floor. She looked to Jess and said, "The sauce is made from candy from Russia daddy!"

"Oh really? Aren't you a smart little girl." Jess answered, kissing her on the cheek.

Smiling proudly, Ava looked to Anita, who nodded at her; returning her smile.
