Title: 398.2 Fandom: DC Comics Prompt: #7, Both Sides Word Count: About two hundred. Rating: PG13 Disclaimer: DC Comics owns all characters involved. Not that Oracle pays too much attention to things like that. Summary: There are hackers at Babs' level.
Tunnel vision, I think. Spend all your life mastering electronic/information warfare, and you risk losing sight of the fact that you are still vulnerable to physical attacks.
Yup, which is a pity, because the fact he got that close to Oracle (not Barbara Gordon) is damned impressive. It's a good thing she knows how to use escrima sticks, because Oracle's kung-fu is pretty weak. (Which isn't a reflection on your story, just my general grouchiness when it comes to the Big-O.)
*nods* For these fics I'm practically ignoring all of Oracle's unfanwankeable tech gaffes and mostly un-techie approach to things (e.g., 623.1 is a very un-DC story, I think), but even with those caveats, I do think Oracle isn't the DCU's best hacker - just the only one among the few at the top who works in the capes' world. (I'd love to read something about the DCU's hidden technophilic subculture, a la your fic series, or Hypervelocity's mecha subculture).
