I didn't get this sentence though: The wan was in the ground, paralyzed and disarmed, before his brain could register the attack the impact from the scrima sticks.

What does "wan" mean here?

See, I would have guessed that if it hadn't been for the "in" in that sentence (unless that's a typo too and was supposed to be "on"?). I mean, how come he's *in* the ground just because of Oracle attacking, i.e. without some further trap or something? Also I think there may be something missing between "the attack" and "the impact" either a comma, or an "and/or" or something.
