Mulatu Astatke - Tezeta

Listen first
Born in Jimma, Ethiopia, Astaktke studied music around the world and would combine all sorts of Latin, Jazz, funk, and local Ethiopian styles into his songs. Recently he had 3 songs featured on the Broken Flowers soundtrack, which as you might expect blossomed into a minor resurgence of interest in his work. This song however is off of Ethiopiques series, Volume 4. Its a sultry saxophone, piano, guitar number thats all about floating sexily through the warm summer night.

Ed Ariete - La Morte Accarezza A Mezzanotte

Listen first
I can't find anything about this artist, except i would guess from the songs title that he is italian. The title translates to "She Caresses Death until Midnight" (or something). The track is from the amazing Dusty Fingers compilations (volume 9). It sounds similar to the Italian spy/horror thriller music from the 70's that i've heard.

Arielle - Goody goody

Listen first
Arielle was Nicknamed "La Minou Drouet du Twist"! I don't speak french so I had to rely on babelfish for a translation, which it spit back at me as "The Drouet Pussy of the Twist". I'm not sure what to make of that, but that this is french 60's "girl garage band" music, though this particular track sounds more like straight up pop, which brings me to my 4th and final song...

Jordan knight - Give it to you

Remember this? the ferris wheel? the fake Timbaland production? the dorky girl in the bee costume who becomes hot? here's the video in case you need to see it again (YOUTUBE).
