And as it happens, there's a black cat nearby, licking a paw, as he flicks his tail in annoyance.

True, some events Thackery could ignore, but when said event goes and STEPS on your foot, nearly crushing it, you tent to notice.

Patchouli looked in the direction of the voice. Hopefully, her nervousness could be forgiven. All she saw, though... was a cat.

A talking cat, she thought. I've been out here a little too long. She probably shouldn't be so shocked by a talking cat, considering there were surely stranger things to be found in her home world, but, for now...

She knelt down, next to the cat. She still wasn't sure if she believed it. "Did you speak?" she asked it, a little quietly.

Better safe than sorry, I always say :D

"I did." Thackery said, glancing up at the woman, nodding slightly. "...is this a problem?"

Entirely reasonable. There's nothing to worry about, though!

"Not really. It's just... odd to see a talking cat. I thought I was going mad. I did not expect to see a cat on a ship like this at all, I guess." She repositioned herself so she was instead sitting down.
