I am so with you on Point The Two !

Just because I am not snugly um, with someone, why do I have to pay all the tax ?

But then the person you are snuggly with has to either work while you don't or they slack off while you slave all day. So it's not just some snuggly, but an unequal leaching snuggly you have to have in order to get a tax beak.

Yeah but at least you have two incomes and all that. Oh and let's not overlook the sex.

Enjoying Who ?

Ah, but that's the point of the tax break. It only works if two share only one income stream.

But you're right. There is the sex. And the washing. And the washing up. And the general doubling of mess. And the navigating around someone else's mood swings.

(I'm still suffering Doctor fatigue. Not watched any Who as yet)

I'm surprised at you all! tomo2k April 10 2010, 11:44:21 UTC
I thought you wouldn't be so easily swayed by New Labour spin.

The Conservative proposal is very simple:
If you are married/civil partnered to someone who doesn't pay tax, you can have part of their tax allowance.

This means that you get a bit more monies to help support your partner who doesn't pay tax - usually because they're at home looking after the kids.
- There is a caveat that you have to be earning less than about £42k to get the extra allowance, so the very rich don't get it.

If they start to pay tax, they use the whole of that allowance instead.

Right now, if you both work. You both get the full tax allowance. But if one doesn't work, that 'extra' allowance is gone.

It's actually really clever, and a very sensible move.
In quite a few other EU countries, the whole allowance can be transferred - though as Labour have pretty much bankrupted the country they can't really offer that

Labour on the other hand appear to want everybody to work and nobody to look after the kids.
(Yeah, that's spin as well. Sorry!)The current ( ... )

It's ok - It was just an early morning grumble about being single rather than a tax rant. I swear.

I do get it. I do! I just hate being single.

Yeah, being single sucks.

I didn't really meet anyone until I was on a ship in the middle of the ocean, and they couldn't escape!

:D

So you're saying I should go on a cruise?

I could luv you for tax reasons.

And would even bear a hard life of slacking off all day, while you slave away :D It's a natural talent, that.

Yeah - cos my income would be so great as to enable us both to live a luxuriant life.

Is this the imaginary world where I get the cool helicopter, or the other one?

The one without the zombies. Definitely.

Good. A reality with a lack of zombies has much to recommend it.
