The best news about today: my apartment has been rented! I am now free of my lease obligation in Chicago Illinois USA and can devote all that cash to funding the exorbitant cost of living in Shoreditch London UK.

I don't think that's too whiney but really, if you don't live in France, you don't know you're born. Parisians take the prize for the world's worst customer service. As Rion's article shows. Chin up!

Well, I'm sure that it's even worse elsewhere. For example, I'll be in Moscow in a couple weeks' time. While I won't be trying to arrange a delivery with Parcelforce, I'll be curious to see how everything goes.

Well, this was the first one. And I wasn't sure if/when it was going to run. We haven't made any strict agreement about how it'll work -- mostly I don't want a commitment that requires me to worry about frequent deadlines -- but it'll be good to have a chance to have a venue for writing that's longer form (and less spontaneous) than a blog.
