Yay! Today my ebay bid of .99 won a new softcover copy of The Shadow of the Wind. Including shipping, the total was $4.88. Still cheaper than a new one from Amazon. This one is a gift for a friend. I already have it in hardback as well as two paperbacks for loaner copies. Yeah, I’m still quite taken by this book.

Another ebay purchase this week, HP stuff )

ebay, books: 2007, movies, harry potter, links

I've recently been finding some great HP stuff on ebay, which of course is a divine sign it's meant to be mine. :D

Great bag and hat. You're reminding me that I was in the HP fandom only about 6 months when OotP was published. My how time flies etc.

Philip Pullman, of course, gave what's probably my favorite quote about "the democracy of reading":
The democracy of reading (see above) means that as soon as a book is published you lose control of how it's interpreted anyhow, and so you should. To tell someone else how to read your book is to fall into the temptation of fundamentalism.

Great idea, eh? :)

I love Pullman's 'democracy of reading' quote. That's so true!

Yeah, too bad some authors don't think that...

I love that Pullman quote too. With your current hectic schedule, it's not surprising you don't have any spare time for leisure reading. I think you're doing an amazing job right now with all the things you have going. It's most impressive.

The family drama has leveled off for now. My mom's physical therapy is going well and she has better mobility every day. My uncle's health is steadily declining and we're trying to make his last days comfortable ones. Thanks for asking and thanks for the good thoughts.
