Yay! Today my ebay bid of .99 won a new softcover copy of
The Shadow of the Wind. Including shipping, the total was $4.88. Still cheaper than a new one from Amazon. This one is a gift for a friend. I already have it in hardback as well as two paperbacks for loaner copies. Yeah, I’m still quite taken by this book.

Another ebay purchase this week:
I thought the dimensions of the messenger bag (9” x 11” x 2-1/2”) would make it a good-sized book bag. Both the bag & hat are new and I got them both for $15.50.
That baseball cap has “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” embroidered in gold letters on the front and its release date “06-21-03” embroidered on the back. That makes me a little sentimental because it was the week prior to 6-21-03 when I read the first four books to see what all the fuss was about. Then I became hooked on HP, started reading fanfiction, followed my favorite authors to Livejournal, and friended some amazing people. After it’s all said and done, it’s been a hell of a ride and I’m glad to have been on it with so many of you.

Regarding a favorite book coming soon to a theater near you, I can’t stop watching the trailer for
The Golden Compass. It looks like this movie captures the magic of Lyra's world(s) and that makes me very happy. For months, my desktop wallpaper at work has been
Lyra's Oxford. Also, here's a link to
meet my daemon.
We don't need lists of rights and wrongs, tables of do's and don'ts: we need books, time, and silence. 'Thou shalt not' is soon forgotten, but 'Once upon a time' lasts forever. ~ Philip Pullman
