Very pretty art was my first impression. I think there’s a Kanoko in me, definitely. There’s something about having this ‘secret’ little friendship that calls to a part of me. It’s a special connection just between Kanoko and Madoka. I love the beauty and subtlety of this short story.

I pretty much stopped reading this manga in order up to a certain point. I bought this volume at a used bookstore and read it then, even though I don’t think I was that far yet. I enjoyed this a lot though. It was intriguing to see Seimei and what he was up to. It was also interesting to see the escalation of Masaki’s abuse on poor Ritsuka. Yet Ritsuka takes it so well. I swear that kid is messed up in ways he doesn’t even know yet. *pets him* There are really great Soubi+Ritsuka moments in this volume. Natsuo and Youji as well.
