Your drawing is fantastic, but tell me again why you don't use a quicker medium, such as ink washes, to do your large areas of shading? I can see your impatience and boredom with using pencils for that. I can feel it. And I have sympathy, but I do wonder why you don't make your life easier by using mixed media there.

Because I'm old and stubborn? XD

Actually in this particular case the high streak pencil of the archway was a deliberate choice, an attempt to invoke the movement of the time tunnel opening titles, give the image some movement.

Mostly it's a matter of access to the equipment. I draw on a tray in my lap, I don't possess a desk that isn't full of things. I tend to draw on whatever paper I can get my hands on (often copier paper which explodes on contact with ink :p )
My other half is a proper artist, uses watercolours a lot and I admire her a lot for it because I just don't have the patience to do them justice, as you noted.

As for digital colouring, not my thing because it's not my art if the computer has done it for me. I have experimented in the past and I've never been happy with the results.

I don't care to create digital art, either. I have a lot of respect for people who do it well, but I can't live without the process of physically making something.

C'mon, get yourself a good sketchbook. You're worth it. Your drawings are worth it. They're expressive, the lines are fantastic, and they make me smile.
