The Month of November Challenge

Oct 29, 2011 11:41

With only a few days to go, I thought I would give you a run-down of where I thought this community was going to be headed in the next month. Feel free to invite your writing friends (those doing NaNoWriMo and those just interested in writing more this month) to join us if they haven't already!

Every day, I'm going to post 5 prompts. Gotta to keep everything, you know, the same. These are going to be sort of like our normal 5_prompt tables but they're just going to be a list of things. No pretty lines. These prompts are meant to just help the writing muse along and you can use them however you'd like.

Okay, now for the part where we divide up the camps. No matter where you choose to ally yourself with this month, I want you to try to STRETCH YOURSELF. Even if you aren't trying to write 50,000 words in 30 days, I want you to try to do something you haven't done before. Have you not been able to complete a story, of any length, in a month's time? Try to write one and post it. Is writing a story in one month time easy for you? Write several! Do you already post more stories than you know what to do with each month? Try a different fandom or even think about writing an original story. Maybe you've always wanted to make pic spams of what your stories are about. Sometimes visual arts goes hand in hand with the writing muse.

Step One: Respond to the appropriate post below with what you think you'll be doing this month. What is your goal? This isn't required but I like to know where everyone is.

Are you doing NaNo? You won't be able to necessarily post how you use the prompts every day but you can respond to the post everyday (there will be a place for daily word counts on each post) with your word count and what prompts you've found useful. If you'd like, you can post the part of your story that has the prompt. It's completely up to you. I'm going to try to get the prompt up in the morning my time so I might not have it around for your "day". Just save your word count and put it on the appropriate day.

Step Two (NaNo): Post your word count EVERY DAY to the appropriate post. You don't have to post it ON the day but you need to have responded to the posts every day. If you post something every day (even if it's to say that you only wrote 10 words), you'll be a pretty NaNo banner personalized just for you.

Step Two (Expand): Post your word count EVERY DAY to the appropriate post. If you aren't writing every day, feel free to share what you're doing.

Step Three (Expand): Post your accomplishments. If you used a prompt from a certain day, use that TAG on your story. You do not have to use any of the prompts to participate in this challenge. If you're participating in the November challenge, you'll get a nifty personalized banner at the end of the month.

Just a note: You do NOT have to be a member of the community to participate in this challenge but it sure does make it fun!

Another note: THIS IS THE ONLY CHALLENGE that you can also count for the other current challenge on the community. If you are writing your WRITTEN IN THE STARS challenge this month and you post your results in the manner described above, you will be eligible for a MoNC banner as well as the WitS banner.

Any questions? Just ask!
