This sounds distressingly like my life.

"Paradoxically, my parents, although not taking and interest in my life rarely let me do things outside of school except for sleepovers, youth groups, with a certain group of friends, I was never allowed to go to parties without them calling their parents. Hey, I understand completely. My parents are extremely protective of me. I wasn't allowed to go to friends' houses until my later high school years because my parents didn't know the people, and were convinced that everyone's Dad was a rapist. I've never been to a sleepover, and they'd still probably feel uneasy about it if I asked to go to one now. I had to wheedle my way out of dating a guy my first year of uni because I was sure my Dad, at least, would freak out about it. They used to lecture me about how I wasn't to get involved with a guy until I had graduated from university. I still pass up certain social outings because I'm afraid they'll disapprove ( ... )
