They asked him 7 questions, ranging from the past year to the current tour.
1. Since your CD debut, over the course of this year, what were your happy/angry/sad/fun episodes?
Happy: If you enter the characters "Kiriyama Akito" in a cellphone, at once it will become my name. Just by entering "Akito", Kiriyama will come at once, it makes me really happy!
(t/n: Kiriyama has an unusual kanji for his first name)
Angry: I've never yelled "uwa" in anger. Ah, but, I have been irritated. When I rented a DVD, I didn't watch it, when I returned it and borrowed it again, once again I wasn't able to see it... at that time I became irritated at myself.
Sad: A sad episode does not exist, but recently, my tear glands are fragile! When I see people working hard I'll cry. During a stage play I did, when we had our last performance, everyone in the cast wrote messages in the panphlet as a present, I cried out of joy.
Fun: I wonder if it's when I was reading a novel. In my free time I have been reading e-books, no matter the genre I've been reading them, entering the printed world is fun isn't it!
2. Has the relationship between the members changed?
We are not a group that was put together for the sake of debut (t/n: like HSJ or NEWS for example). During junior times we were together, that hasn't changed. Just, looking at our way of thinking, our awareness has increased, and it has become confidence. Respective things have changed for the better haven't they.
3. What is Johnny's WEST's strength?
That student is having fun? There are people in their school days! There are! It's a familiar thought as an idol. That is Johnny's WEST! Though we are idols, we are not positioned to the side, that is our strength! (laughs)
4. What is a challenge for yourself right now?
Being able to do anything without flaws, improving in the area of being a jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none. Recently, I thought wouldn't it be better if I was the opposite. I'm not talking about becoming a clumsy person, rather I want to create my own speciality, I want to master one thing. For example, appearing on variety shows, saying decent comments, not being told I'm by far the biggest idiot, being someone who does not have completely unusable comments, I want to be a person who says more amusing things!
5. To you, what is a live like?
I guess the origin. After all, there are various things I have to ask to do, out of the seven of us I am the one who wants to do lives the most, because it's a shining place. In order to be able to do a live, we have to be allowed to release a CD and appear on music programs, then we can do a tour. In order to be able to do lives every year, I will continue to devote every day to it.
6. What is something you do without fail before a live?
I put on red pants. I'm talking about battle pants (t/n: his underwear); before the live I put them on~. Since I've done that from when I was young until now, right now it's an unconscious choice. Recently on work days I've been bringing red pants (laughs). When I come to Tokyo, if the washing was not done in time, there are times where I wear the wrong colour, but in the first and last show I will certainly have red pants.
7. What are you looking forward to enjoying this summer?
I want to go diving! Last year, a person who knows how took me, I am addicted. I took the license test, my experience is also increasing, in order to gain more information I want to dive into the sea! It'd be the best if I could do it in Okinawa or Hawaii.
