Zombies and Planning for the Apocalypse

I was never a horror movie fan as a kid, but lately I've become attracted to them, specifically to zombie movies. I'd seen George Romero's Night of the Living Dead some years ago, but recently I took in the sequels Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. I also saw two British takes on the genre, the hilarious but gruesome Sean of the Dead and 28

Just read your zombie post and really liked it. I am quite similar to you in that I havent really seen or read a lot about zombies. The social messages are clear, compelling and relelvant. They also look cool!

Evil Dead does not... But since you watched it already I would suggest Evil Dead II, and Army of Darkness.

I don't need social relevance in order to enjoy a good zombie flick but, hey, it seems the better ones employ such contrast. I guess they kinda gotta. Check out James Gunn's revamp of DAWN OF THE DEAD [it's the best]. I think Gunn's writing a revamp of DAY OF THE DEAD, too.

You might dig Romero's recent LAND OF THE DEAD. Plus, I have about 10 more on DVD. I still think you'd get a kick out of the subtle yet sad DEATHDREAM.

And, um, you are now, officially, a zombie fan.
