Some people need to convince themselves that people need to be suffocated.

It's not suffocation. [He's sticking to his guns on this.] It's keeping people safe. Society cannot function without a degree of control...people need control. Otherwise it's chaos.
I took care of my sister. I took care of her for years. [He sounds a little uneasy] She was better off for it.
[She told him to get out of her life and stop treating her like she was five. That's totally better off.]

I tried to buy her love. I made her party in the terrible things I did. I made her suffer for what I did. How are you protecting someone when you end up hitting them to make sure they don't get in your way? When you're destroying them whilst protecting them.
As much as you tell yourself they're better off, that it'd be worse without you, that's not how it works.
