I'm not old enough to remember Mayor McCheese of McDonald Land. Whenever I think of that Mayor, I get this image:

I didn't recognize the McDonald's connection at all. But when I was a kid in the 60s, I had a dream about McDonald Land. I had seen a TV commercial and it just seemed like the greatest place I could imagine. There were little french fry bushes.

That playscape is kind of frightening.

When I was a kid in the 80's, the french fry bushes had evolved into "fry kids." I'm not sure what they did, if anything other than being walking french fry bushes. Before they were fry kids, they were less friendly looking "Gobblins."

WTF, seriously... not even 2 minutes ago I randomly said "Mayor Mc Cheese" to Gregg. Then this!!!!!

Nevermind, I made the connection that the playground equipment character in your entry above was named "Mayor Mc Cheese" .... I saw him and instinctively thought, "Mayor Mc Cheese!" without really realizing that that was his name. How deeply engrained this knowledge is in my brain...

Yeah, Mayor McCheese was on his last legs by the time we were impressionable youth. Rightly so, with such a giant head! So even though we actually do recognize him, those memories probably go waaaay back.
