How deep is their love?

Broken hearts and talk of lovers ending and leaving always get the waterworks flowing *wipes eyes and blow nose* To me it comes down to the depth of their love. They do fight, and apparently have before. But they have been together for a while and made it this far. Are they happy together? Is the love mutual? Can either imagine anyone else? To hell with "you can do better". I've heard that shit before, too, and that's all it is. We (I at least) don't mate for status, or as a trophy, or for show, or to further a career, do we? Am I the only crazy romantic in the world?
