Beautiful scarf!!!! And I agree, don't give it to the ex, he's definitely not worthy. As for what to do with it...its up to you. I'd say keep it around for a future swap, but you don't want to look at it if its going to bring back bad memories. Also, sometimes parting with a gift can help bring closure.
I got dumped online once. It was totally lame. If he wasn't man enough to tell it to me to my dace then he definitely wasn't man enough for me to date him. But anyway, that was ages ago and I moved on.
If you put that much effort into something it needs to go to someone who would appreciate it. I think charity would be a good option. You can take all the bad crap from your ex and replace it with a good feeling that you donated it to someone who needs it.
I love the scarf. I haven't attemped entrelac yet but I know it looks a lot more difficult than it is. What yarn did you use? I love the colorway.
Entrelac is actually really easy. All it really is is a bunch of stockinette sqaures & triangles. The most difficult part about the whole thing is picking up stitches, which I mastered when making socks (& watching the knittinghelp.com video a half million times.) The yarn is Patons Decor & the color way is Secret Garden.
I love Patons yarn. Classic Merino is my favorite.
After I saw your scarf I tried it wth some Red Heart I had sitting neglected in the bottom of my stach so I gave it a whirl. You're right, the hardest part is picking up stitches. I am making a felted entrelac bag now (well, after Christmas).
wow I've heard the sweater curse doesnt only apply to sweaters, but thats harsh. I'm sorry. i would think about which is going to make you feel best, and do that. Maybe a personalized charity, something that hits close to home?
If you wanted to be evil you could wait until you're in a new relationship, give your scarf to that boyfriend, take a picture of him wearing it while the two of you are incredibly happy together, and send the picture to your ex. After all, he did break up with you online...
Otherwise, give it to someone for whom it will make you happy to send it to them.

the scarf is beautiful though! I'd keep it for a swap or for a christmas gift for someone!
