In Sept. we went from middle of Ca. to middle of Wa. and my son was 15 months old. I actually called his pediatrician and told him what was going on and he prescribed me something to help relax him during flight. I'm not sure what it was but it knocked him out for like half the time. Our longest flight was only 2.5 hours and I gave it to him 1 hour before the flight. Im not sure how long you guys will actually be on the plane but for the time after he wakes up and the medicine wears off (if you can get some) bring lots of snacks. Books and toys didnt really keep my son occupied but food did lol. Good luck, hope you have the smoothest flight possible with a toddler. Oh and make sure you bring what ever his comfort object is, that helps alot. Remember you cant bring any liquids over 3 oz. so dont pack anything like that. You can buy stuff at the airport once you are through security and take it on though ( ... )

When my daughter was 4 months, we flew from CT to San Diego, not so bad, she slept the whole time. Then when she was 12 months, we flew from NYC to Denver. This time I was concerned, it was just me and her. At her one year check up I had mentioned it to the doc, and she said to just bring a lot of snacks & finger foods, and a few of her favorite toys. It was amazing how much the finger foods helped, she sat there opening and closing the puffs container, nibbled on a few, etc. We did stretch our legs a couple of times (she was walking at 11 mo) so we walked up and down the aisle. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, the doctor also said if you can make it so that the baby can drink a bottle on ascent/decent it will help with the pressure in the ears. I also brought benadryl with me, I did give it to her once on the way home when she started to get antsy, and she passed out in a half hour ( ... )
