Not long after they moved to the area, the twins brought home permission slips to go on a walking field trip of the 'Historic Downtown Area'. The teacher also sent a note requesting that Erik come along as a chaperon because she apparently had no appreciation for the fact that authors have schedules, too. He agreed because the twins were very excited about all of it

Not!OP This is so wondrous for me, you have no idea. Pietro is absolutely one of my favorite X-Men characters of all time, and I love people who portray him in all his obnoxious childish glory (though, obviously he'd be childish here as he is a child, still...). Beyond that, this is just so cute so far. I adore that you included the Kosher candy. It's a very nice touch. I'm not gonna lie, though, a part of me is wondering why Charles didn't re-name the shop "Groovy Gumdrops". Silliness aside, this is absolutely adorable and I look forward to seeing where you go with this. Oh, the land of fluff...

I love that Pietro is trying to keep the other kids from touching the glass...that is sooo very funny to me. Gotta love Charles' last line. Please write more soon.

Erik didn't really plan on going back to Goody Gumdrops only three days later, but the kids were excited about the festival and Erik couldn't really think of anything to write about, anyway. He hoped that maybe seeing the locals out and about would offer some form of inspiration

Erik really wasn't expecting to run into Charles anywhere but in the candy shop, so when he went into the only bar in town and saw Charles happily conversing with the bartender, he was slightly taken aback. Charles saw him and patted the barstool next to him with a smile

"The city of Between itself isn't a small town, really," Charles acknowledged, "But Historic Downtown qualifies in most everyone's mind. We're set apart from the rest of the city. We have our own tourism and the Historical Society is practically our government rather than the council. You must admit, it's rather like stepping back in time to come here. But then you just hop in your car and drive to the 21st century, which I believe is five-point-seven miles that way." Charles gestured vaguely
