I know that we've had the twins in the meme before, but have we had any David?

I'd like to see Charles being an almost over-attentive father, being very aware of the fact he's a single father, that he's pretty young to have a kid, that his own parents didn't do a good job. In essence, he's terrified of screwing up.

I'd also love to see the other mutant's reaction to finding out Charles has a child and perhaps some amusement watching Charles with him.

Thank you! I"m glad you're liking this. Poor Charles is horribly out of his depth, but he'll grow into the role...and yeah, he really does make a good father.

Thank you all for your lovely comments! I was worried no one would like this, so I'm incredibly happy to get such an enthusiastic response!Even after several days of parenthood the entire experience still felt rather surreal. Some days Charles woke up believing everything had been a dream, only to open his eyes to the ceiling of his hotel room and see David across the room, still asleep on the pullout sofa ( ... )

* I have no excuse for this, but I honestly don’t think that anyone in Charles’ family would be all that likely to sing to him…so the only lullaby he knows is one he learned from his housekeeper.

Translation:

Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, ooh.
Who will I give this baby to?
If I give him to the Befana
For a week she will keep him.
If I give him to the black wolf
For a whole year he'll keep him
If I give him to the white wolf
For very long he'll keep him,
Lullaby, lullaby, lullaby, hmm
To no one I'll give him!

I made very undignified noises when I saw you'd updated. I think it scared my dogs.

Oh God, I love this! So cute! So sad! <3____<3

I'm glad I could make you happy and sad and make sounds that are frightening to dogs. The mix of cuteness with sad was too much to resist.

Thank you!

With the paperwork mostly taken care of and the bills for the funeral paid in full, all that was left was packing up the small apartment Gabrielle and David had lived in together for four years.

The apartment had been a happy home. That much was obvious to even the most casual of observers. The walls were lined with pictures of Gabrielle and David as well as pictures of her parents and even, one of Charles himself. It was them, right after they’d first started seeing each other, standing in the middle of Harvard Square. There were toys scattered in the hall and piles of books stacked on the floor, because the bookcases were already sagging under the weight of the Haller family’s extensive collection. There were faded stains on the carpets that had been lovingly cleaned and there were even crayon masterpieces on the walls that David insisted he had nothing to do with ( ... )

“Dad?”

Charles blinked out of his thoughts and turned to look at the quietly curious countenance of his son. “Hmm?”

“What’s wrong?” David asked and Charles realized with some surprise that the boy was worried about him ( ... )
