The rains retreat in southern Asia is held during the rainy season. It can go for 3 months and Buddhist monks use this time to meditate intensively without outside interruption.

I have just received an email from LJ saying my account has been inactive for 2 years and I only have 3 entries and therefore they are going to delete my account! Clearly a mistake (I hope).

What a surprise! This morning I saw that I came first in the May monthly Shiki Kukai - kigo section and joint first in the free format section.

The time it takes
"Put the book down and go to sleep," I tell my daughter, as I gently stroke her hand.

"Only if you do that ten more times," she smiles.

As I finish, she says, "That was eleven."

Yesterday I had my 50th birthday. Gulp.

I've slightly more hair

than the other balding guy

in a leafless tree

between birth

and death

~ uncertainty

reviewing my x ray

the surgeon

checks his watch
