SVH TV Episode 4.18: Swing Time

Sep 07, 2012 17:51

It's back to the fourth season today, for one reason and one reason only -- this episode is so booktastic. It's not based on any of the old-school plots per se, but it's got a ton of elements that I remember loving the books for, and that's good enough for me.

I may or may not have read this at work. I may or may not have started laughing at the "Meep Meep" and Jersey slam. My coworker may possibly think I'm insane.

Thank you.

The amont of times the workfolk have given me strange looks as I've been reading 1bruce1 recaps is...well, it's worrying. It's also perfectly normal. Repeat after me: they're the strange ones...

I... love how this show sort of doesn't even pretend these people are like real sixteen-year-olds. Also, that whole Marco plotline is seriously skeevy! I'm glad he got punched, but... damn it!

Oh, he did not get punched out. Devon may have had the intention to turn him into flesh custard, but he never did. He just gave him an angry look.

I remember in college several of the bars Uptown had swing nights, which is right about the time this show was on the air.

I assume it's expecting to much to assume Todd and Renata went to Sea World because Todd cares what happens to the whales, but I would so love it if it was true.

But Francine seems to think rape is a good plot point. I actually was a little disturbed by the joke in SVC that Bruce almost had an unconcious Liz before.

There is no way in hell that the whale thing was an actual callback to the books. No way in hell.

I'm a bad person, because I thought it was awesome. In a wow-I-can't-believe-she's-actually-acknowledging-that kind of way, but still awesome.

Awesome Winston is terribly awesome. He was almost completely un-creepy in this episode, which is refreshing.
