Questioning my normalcy...boys edition

This article. I should stop reading anything that doesn't have to do with baseball, seriously.

Basically, it's saying why women don't go for nice guys and are more attracted to bad boys. I'm the exact opposite. The so-called 'bad boy' persona has always turned me off. It just has no appeal to me whatsoever. If you have to act like that to prove your ( Read more... )

That article is utterly ridiculous. I really feel like there's way too much emphasis on the "chasm between the sexes." I get along with people of both sexes who have my interests. I know nerdy guys, "jocks", older guys, nerdy girls, athletic girls, and older girls and the only people I see with relationship problems as extreme as the ones those "love" sites talk about are the really self-absorbed hyper-feminine and hyper-masculine people who conform rigidly to social norms. I mean, really people. It's not that difficult to find common ground between two people that starts with friendship and respect and grows into intimacy. Like I have any room to talk with my relationship track record, but I just hate all these "advice" sites that treat men and women like totally different species.

(By the by, I don't like bad boys either. Although in movies and books and stuff I'm always overly attracted to the "troubled" boys--but that's just because I see myself in them, I think. And "troubled" and "bad" are not the same.)

I just never understood it at all! I've always been a tomboy who happens to like really sweet, nerdy boys, so I always feel left out from those sorts of articles. It's like they don't consider the human gradient at all.

Someone needs to start a 'normal human relationship advice' website. Seriously. It would probably raise a lot of people's confidence.

(Troubled is totally different from bad, I agree! And more attractive, too.)
