XXI ✟ [Accidental Audio]

[What's a night time transformation without at least one person out for blood? Not everyone can be relatively peaceful or harmless within the Halloween time.

There's a soft clicking sound in the background, gradually growing louder. Bones trying to fit into another form perhaps? The apparent change seems to end with a low rumbling sound, not quite a ( Read more... )

[It wouldn't be right to ignore the person she felt closest to in Paradise. She's aware of the circumstances but she's damn stubborn and wouldn't dare leave Kaworu in that state.

He'd do the same for her--or she'd like to think he would.]

She was going to do her best to be a loyal friend first and foremost. After shutting off the device, Ai had sprinted out of her room with the door left wide open. If that was Kaworu, she had no clue what he was capable of or what he intended to do. He had always been an enigma of sorts, but now, more then ever it concerned her.

Panting heavily as she ran down the streets, the girl kept her head high on the lookout for him.

After running around Paradise for over a half an hour, Ai was beginning to feel like she was taking a detour. The kogal wasn't the best at tracking people down admittedly. She felt stressed and worried enough over the image she had seen on the video she felt like she could cry. It was time to be a big girl for his sake. She was fourteen, not four.

Biting on her lip, she motioned her head upwards and glanced ahead of her. Off in the distance she could make out a strange shape. She was uncertain how to describe it when she had never seen anything remotely similar. Most people might get the idea of seeing such a creature feasting as a hint to haul ass in the other direction, but instead? She proceeded forward without hesitation.

It would do her so much better to be a selfish little girl who stayed contently cooped up in her room. She could be binge drinking and smoking up a storm, but little by little she had been changing into someone at times she had trouble recognizing as her carefree self.

Doing her best to smile, the girl did her best to not look afraid. Speaking up, she reached out a hand up into the air toward him. "Hi. I...I'm not going to be bad or hurt you. I just want to make sure you're going to be okay. I promise I won't get in your way, I'll just stay off in the distance and make sure you're safe."

As much as that smile should drive her away, Ai seemed intent on keeping her feet planted to the concrete. Everything in Paradise was not as it seemed. Lately life had been full of surprises that would make her think of the irony of the name.

Not moving an inch as he neared closer, she smiled back at him. With a tilt of her head, she took in his features closely. When she decided to speak again, her voice was as natural as the times she spoken to him over the phone-like device. There was a hint of melancholy to her voice. "...I guess we all have our secrets? Don't we?"

If he offed her like he had the creatures from outside, there would be no surprises to her death. She was aware of how foolish she was, those sounds he had made over the feed had been a warning she had ignored.

Fighting wasn't her forte, but when it came to dashing and leaping, she'd say she was above average. A lot of it had to do with being in the mindset of believing her opponents to be the girls from back home about to attack her. If it sounded like make-believe, that was what she was doing. Although, staying in that frame of mind for too long often brought on a form of delusion.

Making an attempt to spring from her spot, Ai felt her feet lift off the ground. Feeling herself flying in the air briefly before hitting the concrete on her side, she proceeded to roll several feet away from him with a high-pitched yelp.

There was no denying that had hurt like hell. The pain had been centered to her bare legs and arms. By the time she recovered with an attempt at getting up a brief gaze directed at her body determined the fall was bad enough on one knee that a small piece of tissue had been exposed through the damaged skin. Enough to warrant stitches, not that the girl had any intention on making that happen anytime soon.

Ai regained her stand and looked at him. Despite what had just happened, she didn't feel angry, no. She just felt disappointed that somehow she wasn't strong enough to make a connection with him.

As blood trickled down her knee, she felt a few, heavy drops soak into her sock. She'd make another attempt at getting through to him, her hope wouldn't dry up so fast. Focusing her gaze to his 'face' of sorts, she extended her arms. Somehow, she wished she could hug him or comfort him into a submission.

"Kaworu. You have to be in there somewhere. Come on, don't you recognize me? It's Ai-Ai, we talk all the time. We're friends!"

If she had to repeat herself, so be it. There wasn't a single moment where she would dare lay a finger on Kaworu knowingly. Placing her palms down flatly near her upper chest, Ai closed her eyes tightly and let her voice ring out as high as possible. Repeatedly saying his name, she was at a loss of what else to do. If all her focus hadn't been on trying to get through to him, she might of heard the squawks of birds ascending from the trees at her response.

Why did this have to happen to him? In some perfect image she had set in her mind, Kaworu was the person she had admired most. Maybe he hadn't understood her romantic gestures but she could live that. What she couldn't live with was the acceptance of him the way he was now ( ... )
