This was a beautiful story, and you managed to work everyone's emotional undercurrents in beautifully. Thanks for including Kate; her friendship with Teyla is one of my favorite (and highly underrepresented) aspects of both characters.

Thank you so much. This was one of those stories that drove me bonkers writing, because I was terrified of doing it badly.

Kate, was problematic in this, in that she insisted on growing a complete backstory from undergrad-Atlantis. Most of it isn't in this story itself, but suddenly Kate is this full fleshed character with a complex history and motivational set, who knows that she was never the best choice for the expedition but is damn well going to do the best she can under the circumstances, and then is simply too invested to leave.

She is friends with Teyla (I'm choosing to view "Echoes" as OOC-ness due to horrific script-writing instead of typical character behavior), and moreover the way she's written in this, she has a strong background with the Athosians as a whole. She spent months with them after the evacuation, offering grief counseling and advising and helping them get back on their feet. Grief counseling is one of the few areas that she came to Atlantis with serious personal experience in, and she's had to make use ( ... )

I loved all of your contributions for 14valentines, and I was glad to be around for the creative process for Tears Unshed--Teyla's story wounded and healed a place in my heart, and the fact that I know you have a sequel rambling around in that beautiful brain of yours makes me positively joyous. Thank you for everything you've written. <3 and -<-@

*Blushes madly* Thank you so much.

Sorry I've been incommunicado the last few days - Had some odd work-shifts, and then moved home and the frakking heat wasn't working (so I wasn't inclined to spend time in the unheated kitchen as opposed to under the heated blanket).

Need to get back to the writing. *Sighs* My work is never done. I really need to get the second halves of Meet the Novaks and Progeny up. Like, really need to. And I offered to pinch-hit for sg_rarepairings (which was a really stupid thing to do), so I need to get that in. And I need to post the second half of my SGA/QL piece. And write Not!BLE. And then get working on the sequel to Tears Unshed. And I really want to get going on In the Ranks of Death (You Will Find Him) (it's a story about a classmate of John's from the Academy who gets reassigned to Atlantis b/c she's a psych with front-lines experience, not knowing that he's out there (I'm pirating chaya_rules universe and OC from Gone for a Soldier, since she's bowed out of the writing game for personal reasons. I got permission ( ... )
